does it explain well?
the slope is tangent alpha but you can say that Height/Base
so height is 1 and base is 2
mind that if our slope is positive it is tilted to right, if it's negative like -1/2
it would be tilted to left
I can type you the equation of the line
we have point (5, 3)
and slope 1/2
the formula we use is this: y - y' = m(x - x'),|| (x', y') are the coordinates we will use and "m" for slope||
y - 3 = 1/2(x - 5)
2y - 6 = x - 5
now we have a bit crowded equation of it
0 = x - 5 - 2y + 6
Finally we got a more clean equation.
x - 2y + 1 = 0
Now we will value y = 0 to find where line goes on the x line.
x - 0 + 1 = 0
x + 1 = 0
x = -1
and as you can see
your line passes thru the x = -1 point
thank u so much! omg i under sand :) now
