i have no clue what that means

tawny python
#

whatever number x you have is between -infinity and -2

#

that makes sense

#

but why is there a parentheses around negative infinity and not -2

tawny python
#

Its actually a typo

#

but the use of parentheses do make a difference sometimes

#

like

#

$x \in (-\infty, -2]$

#

this would mean -infinity < x <= -2

#

x is greater than -infinity but less than or equal to -2

#

the use of [ ] means the endpoint is included

#

but the use of ( ) means the endpoint are not included

#

we can have a fusion too like the one I showed

#

the e like symbols is read "belongs to"

#

$x$: a number or variable\
$\in$: is in\
$(-\infty, -2)$: this interval (or so to say "range")
