wtf i did a question and got it right, but it already had the units
why is adding something a cm squared unit? i was finding the area of a parallelogram + trapezium combined
Can you elaborate on what you mean? I'm not sure if I understand.
Well, we have:
S(shaded) = S(trapezoid) - S(triangle)
Which shape are you having trouble with?
i thought it was a trapezium so i did 15+25/2 and got 280 which is wqrong
If a trapezoid has height h and bases a and b, then:
S(trapezoid) = h(a + b)/2
So, you forgot the height.
OH is the height 14
okay thanks
let me do it again
WHAT its still wrong
it gave me a diff question
am i doing something wrong
has the triangle got something to do with it
All you need to do is the area of the trapeziod - the inside triangle
for the inside triangle you have the base and height
So the area is 1/2 * 6 * 11
which is 33
the total trapezoid's area is h/2 (a + b) where a and be are the bases which are parallel to eachother
so the area is 7 (25 + 15)
i didnt understand that at all
Yep
let me do my workings out
Okay, lmk if you have any more questions I'll be happy to help
Well do you know what sin(x) means?
here I'll give you three options you choose the right one
- opposite side/hypotenuse
2/ adjacent side/hypotenuse
- opposite side/ adjacent side
The first one is correct
So basically in this, sin(68) = y/5.1
isnt sin = soh so we're using opposite and hyp???
to calculate y just multiply both sides by 5.1
IDK
Yes
Well, I wrote it 😄
I UNDERSTAND NIW
sin(68)= 5.1/y???? @vague zealot
and then use your calculator
No lol
2WHAT ðŸ˜
Sin(68) is y/5.8 bc 5.8 is the hypotenuse
OH
Hypotenuse is the side thats slanted
I guess thats a bad way of remembering it if the triangle is tilted or something
But its the side that isnt perpendicular to any other side
5.1. But yeah.
Oh yeah lmao sorry
The side opposite to the right angle is the hypotenuse
Idfk what this means so uh
What did you get?
Okay what did you say sin(68) was? It should be sin(68) = y/5.1
then you multiply each side by 5.1
Oh, I know why.
Your mistake, both of you, is that you write sin(68).
There is not sin(68) here.
There is, however, sin(68°).
OKAY WELL I THOUGHT SHE DOESNT KNOW RADIANS SO SHE'D JUST USE DEGREES
But yes its in degrees he's right
Okay is your calculator on radian mode
Because if it is switch it to degrees
Well, if you use a calculator, the default setting is radians.
Also, why the caps?
im using my google calculator
No need for that.
Yeah pretty sure that also has a default for radians
Is this what modding is lmao
But sure
If you insist
Modding? What do you mean?
Anyway, the answer should be 5.1sin(68°).
donedone
Yes.
im so confused on this one if someone could help
Didnt you get the answer?
Bruh are you just getting us to do your homework for you
Lol
okay ill do it again
I recommend switching to a more capable calculator. Like a pocket engineering one. Or Wolframalpha, etc.
its not liking me right now
is that on google#
Is what on Google?
those calculators
Well, uh...
Pocket calculator isn't an app.
It's a calculator that you carry around.
OH
Wolframalpha is https://www.wolframalpha.com/.
ive got like 3 different answers im so confused
What did you get?
Was it set to radians?
No, that isn't possible.
Well, what is the expression you're typing in?
Type 5.9cos(55 deg) into Wolframalpha.
Don't worry!
This isn't a math problem, just a problem with notation.
When you write expressions with degrees, always specify where you mean degrees: write "degrees", "deg" or just the usual symbol °. That way you won't forget.
URGHH yeah i hate calculators sometimes
okay done!!
got itright :D
thank you im sorry again
ugh they give me calculations WITHOUT DIAGRAMS
DRIVES ME INSANEEE
wouldnt this be 3.4cos(13)
Well, again. Specify the degrees.
OKAY
If you're using Wolframalpha, type 3.4cos(13 deg).
What does dp mean?
Dynamminc programming?
Jk
YEAHH thanks
Yes.
Also, Fufu, what did you mean by "modding"? Are you talking about a video game?
@quiet drum has given 1 rep to @pallid swallow
OMG I DID IT RIGHT
Great!
Oh, hold on. Did you mean "moderating"?
If so, I'm not a moderator.
@pallid swallow
Yes?
Seemed like you were mini-modding
say slay!!
As useful as that can be sometimes, its not too useful in certain circumstances
Wait, so you actually meant modding? Then I don't understand.
Slay? Slay what?
just slay!
Yes I did.
apparently this is wrong
Hm. Can you elaborate, then? I am not a modder.
Well, express h first.
wdym byt that
Rather than entering the equation you could just enter tan(7) * 3.2
OH
Well you see theres an equation right
More specifically, 3.2tan(7 deg).
So to solve the equation you express it in terms of the other stuff
And yeah I think it did it in radians?
because it sais 7pi/180
Good job!
I still don't know what you mean by "slay" and Fufu means by "modding", though...
yep
Yes.
YAY
Don't mess it up when you plug it into the calculator though
Yes.
i need rewards for thisd
LOL
should i do my target work
its not compulsory but im bad i do needa revise ðŸ˜
What is target work?
Whats target work?
its like
stuff u got wrong
put into a separate area
and you focus on that and keep doing it
Oh. Well, if you have time, better to do it now, so you don't lose focus.
Sure?
Sure!
ill do these and then finish up
i might need help w these thats all
saving this for another day ðŸ˜
LOL DARP @pallid swallow
Heh. I remember that. Was pretty silly...
Well, there's an (x - h)^2 that should be correct.
Don't worry if it marks it as wrong. We've already established before that this question was faulty.
Oh, it did? Great!
such a dumb questiopn LOL
yeah i finsihed the other bits on my own
im gonna do those other sections now
ffs im gonna cry
What's wrong?
To convert from radians to degrees, multiply the result by 180°/π.
π radians is equal to 180°. So, to convert from radians to degrees, you multiply by 180°/π, and to convert from degrees to radians you multiply by π/180°.
Why are you finding this weird?
I think you're making this harder for yourself than it needs to be
radians is another type of unit to measure angles, just like degrees
short answer: i hate maths
Yeah, just more natural than degrees.
The conversion between degrees and radians is pi/180, as lord darpinger said
As I said if you hate something getting better at it just becomes harder
idk how maths is enjoyable
Well, I like it because I get to discover some interesting patterns and dependencies, as well as solve interesting problems.
For me problem solving is enjoyable
And Fufu is right: hating anything will make it harder.
Math is a way to do that so I find it enjoyable
Yeah
Relax for a bit, take a break if you're tired.
Calm down.
Jesus christ
LMFFAOO
Something I've found is that if you make something part of your identity it gets harder to change and improve at it
Like if you say you sucking at math is part of your identity
As I said, if you want to convert from radians to degrees, you need to multiply by 180°/π.
Thus, type (180°/π)arcsin(53/82).
Then you'll go around telling random people that and making them think of you as that rather than trying to actually improve. So set aside your hatred for math for a few hours and just methodically try solving
Yeah
You could just write deg as well
Yes.
omggggg i cant stand this
HJOW MANY ANSWERS AMN IU GINNA GWET
THE FUCL
THE FDUCK*
What do you mean?
do you know the inverse trig functions?
WHAT IS IT NOT WORKING FOR SMH
Well, this seems to be the same one as before.
Yeah bc youre using tan
53/82 is opp/adj
kill me
Oh, actually, yeah! We all just got confused.
Come on, calm down. Let's just finish the tasks and you can go rest.
Stop wasting your time texting here and go actually attempt each problem with a focused mindset
Then come here and ask for help if you need it
Better not to go further with that mindset. As I said, better to calm down, then continue.
Well, is it the last one?
for my targets
then i have an xp boost but i cba w that
thats all the questions in it
XP boost? Huh...
This whole thing sounds like a video game. Quite strange.
Yeah, that would probably be better.
