Rate is work/time so andrews rate is 1/30 as he mows one lawn in 30 minute and nicholas's rate is 1/45 as he mows 1 lawn in 45 minutes. From here you can just add there rates together to get there combined rate. Next you know that they are going to work together to mow 1 lawn so you can use the work=rate*time formula to solve for the amount of time it will take them.
