The ratio of the numbers is 5 means a/b = 5 so a=5b. Now look at the possible answers again and think about what could be correct @nimble wyvern

#

I'm not here to tell you the answer without you having to think. You can also spell a=5b out loud: a is equal to five times b. Now think again.

#

This one is a bit harder. Let the number of boys be b and the number of girls be g. Then b/g=2/10 so 10b=2g. You also know that the boys and girls together add up to 180 so b+g=180. This is a system with two equations and two variables. Can you solve it?

#

I have to go now. If you have problem with solving this system you can ping algebra helper. I'm sure there will be someone who will be able to explain it to you.
