I wasn't doing anything in particular, I stepped away for a while and when I came back and started to play again this appeared. I stopped and took the screenshot before resuming play, and it appears to be just that lined pattern throughout the island. Doesn't seem to be affecting gameplay at all, just weird ground.

I did not restart the game, I continued with gameplay. It was throughout the whole island in that lined pattern just like that, with some variance in the blocky streaks going sideways and the distorted one. It was raining, and it did eventually go away on its own on the same day.
