My partner and I both kick-started the game ages and ages ago.
We received notice that the switch version wasn't coming out yet, and we could either switch to a steam key or wait for the switch version, and we decided to wait as neither of us have access to steam.
It's been ages and there's still no news on the switch version, how should we go about requesting keys for another platform instead? Can we get Xbox keys, rather than steam?

Maybe, they won't switch it out for any other console though. Only steam key which is the one option I don't have.

yeah id say its the consoles not allowing them to then. they have to abide by the console rules (same reason updates take awhile)

I think it's probably because Stairway has access to steam directly. consoles go through the publisher, so they have a lot less power there

Yeah, it makes sense. It still feels like a broken promise. If I was in their position I'd move mountains to make sure the people who put their faith in me got a satisfactory outcome, even if that meant just refunding them so they could purchase the game themselves.

I'm sure they are. But again, consoles are not only handled by the publisher, not the developer, but they would also be under NDA, so they can't even talk to us about the progress. It is 100% on humble to get it on switch, and provide us any updates

Then a refund so I can buy the game I paid for on a device I own seems in order. It's a simple solution.

I'm not sure that's as simple either, since the transaction is through kickstarter, and not stairway
and I think you CAN get refunds through kickstarter, but then they don't let you back other projects
But I guess if you're unhappy with backing something, you might not want to back another, so that would be up to you
