#Starlet Expedition Quest Progress Bug

Summary:
So our group during our streaming tonight discovered an odd bug with progressing the starlet expedition questline. We are at the point where Cho requests 75 osmium crops and 30 essence. We had one person who delivered the essence and had started to trickle over to her with our crops as each of us grew them (we have separated fields) at some point we noticed that her progress was swapping numbers and we assumed it had simply reset to zero at some point. After quickly browsing this discord looking for known bugs I notice done mentioning that the quest was resetting for some people based on reloading the save and figured I would experiment.

Repro Rate: Seems to reproduce easily
In-Game Date & Time: As recent as the last saved day.
Players & Platform: 4 players, all steam
Game Version: Should be most recent on steam

Reproduction Steps:
Through our experimentation we have discovered that the quest would updated to reflect whoever had given her crops last.

For example :
Player A Donated 23 crops and it would say 23/75
Player B would donate 10 and it would change to say 10/75
If Player A donated another crop it would change to 24/75

Instead of adding our contributions together she seems to be tracking our contributions separately and swapping the quest progress to whoever contributed most recently.

Thankfully in this instance I had the forethought to get the save file BEFORE we all left for the night as well
(Included should be our most recent save assuming we did everything right)

edit: also a detail in this save every individual except one has contributed SOMETHING to her at this point.

that particular save should be less than an hour old, and we started playing the game a few months ago on that file

somewhere around early december? i'm guessing based on achievements for one person who didn't play beforehand

In this clip you can see me going in and contributing 5 items to test it after we had already noticed the issue. So first hand perspective.

As you can see int he beginnign of this clip its 38 but changes to be 9 when I give her crops

In this one you can barely see the numbers from a second perspective. This is when it ORIGINALLY happened I believe as Tiny (this person mon the right's perspective) had been the only one to contribute and Hexus (all the way on the left) had gone to contribute some crops you can catch a glimpse of the numbers at the begining and end of the clip as the quest scrolls on the screen

Its 50 something on the begining end of the clip and changes to be 23

Sadly Hexus's perspective doesn't appear to be preserved but she noticed pretty much immediately cause she thought she had enough to finish the quest.

Just to confirm from the video you shared: since the count changed to 9 and you contributed 5 items, does that mean you had already contributed 4 items beforehand? 😲

We've just begun our game for the night and noticed that on ours it appears the quest is now greyed out?

If I go to the oracle chamber it just slashes out that part and says to go to the naga palace

but if I go to the palace it just goes back to telling me to go to the chamber

WE tested more tonight

  1. It told us as seen above that the crops were more than completed and that the essence was emptied out....

  1. We knew for certain that we had already finished both but we figured sure maybe we need to give essence.

So what we decided to do was give her essence, we had read the patch notes and saw the quest was touched and fiogured hey maybe it reset.... She did accept 30 more essence... and still did not trigger the cutscene.

I just had the brilliant idea as we were ending for the night that it might be behaving as it was before where it only remembered the last person and we had the major contributor give her crops... It didn't trigger the cutscene but increased the count from like 130/75 to 145/75

I then had a WEIRD idea and figured it was worth testing to try to "reset the flag" to use a term I've learned from other games. And had one of us give her something then had the person who had donated a ton of the quest items do it. And then it immediately triggered.

It is also worth noting that this person also turned in all the essence both times I think

So I think that

A. We already did all the things and the flags just needed a reset after the update to the quest.

or

B. She was only remembering what ONE person did and one person had to give her both the quest items to get it to work.

Regardless we got it to work and wow we have "wasted" over a hundred osmimum crops and potentially 30 essence )_) figuring this out
