My game keeps freezing, what can I do to fix this?

Title kind of speaks for itself.

3 times my game has froze, all 3 times I have been trying to enter the merfolk kingdom and speak to the King and Queen.
What do I need to do to prevent this? Its getting really stressful and draining.

Edit 3/15/26:

The freezing has somewhat stopped, but not completely. After verifying files it has minimized but I am still experiencing freezing at random times in the game. Ive turned graphics down and such, repaired game files, verified again.
This is probably the only solution I have right now.

What platform are you playing on? Have you reduced your graphics settings? If PC, do you meet minimum requirements?

I play on a laptop, my game drivers are up to date, and everything meet requirements. I have messed with graphic settings but I will mess with them again and see is bigger changes make a difference and report back.

I messed with settings and my game froze again. It wasn't as quick this time though maybe within 2-3hrs of playing.

Hi Lloner, If you are playing with a Steam Account please try verifying integrity of game files. To do this go to your game library, right click on the game name and confirm the game is up to date in the Updates option. Once confirmed go to Installed Files and select Verify Integrity of Game Files button. It may take a few minutes but will go thru the game files and confirm all game files are there. This option will fix errors in the game installation. I hope this information is helpful.

I have the same problem as OP. (Pardon me for hopping on their thread)

I am also playing it on Steam on a laptop but the freeze occurs randomly for me. It’s happened twice for me in the two days I’ve played. I’ll try out the suggestions here later. I hope it works 🙏

I'm here to give an update! My game is frozen in the background while I'm typing this. I just came out of my barn, it's not the same scenario the last time. The last time it froze for me was when I just entered Sam's store.

Also, I tried the suggestion to verify the game files 3 days ago then played for an hour, and didn't experience any game freeze. I thought it was fixed then.

mine froze too in different scenarios today. Once, when I'm trying to cook, now when mining. It appears to be random after the latest patch. I have never encountered any freezing before 🙁

GPU: Intel Arc B580 12GB

there seems to be an issue with Intel Arc GPUs devs are investigating in which those cause freezing and crash. Try and lower the graphics and I would make also a report in #1105385747290280036 detailing everything and also providing the same specs
