Hello,

I am writing to report a recurring and critical issue affecting the co-op gameplay experience. While the co-op feature is a strong addition to the game, it currently contains a major stability problem that significantly impacts usability. The primary issue occurs at the end of gameplay sessions when the sleep feature is triggered and the game transitions into save mode.

During online co-op play, the game consistently crashes at this point. The crashes occur frequently during nighttime sleep cycles and occur 100% of the time when both players attempt to sleep simultaneously. For reference, my sessions are hosted on an Xbox Series S, with the second player joining via PC using Steam. This crash results in lost progress and wasted time after extended gameplay sessions involving resource gathering, farming, or exploration.

The issue has reached a point where it is causing significant frustration for my household and appears to be affecting other players as well. We genuinely enjoy the game and want to continue playing, but this problem is seriously impacting the overall experience and reliability of co-op mode.

Please advise if there are any known workarounds, troubleshooting steps, or upcoming patches addressing this issue. Otherwise, I strongly encourage prioritizing a fix, as this bug undermines player progression and cooperative gameplay.

  • Reproduction Steps: Describe what you were doing in the game leading up to the crash.

Always happens during a save. When both parties go to sleep.

  • Repro Rate: How often does the issue occur? (e.g. every time, occasionally, only once)

Happens about 30-40% of the time.

  • In-Game Date & Time: When did the crash happen in-game?

Happens as soon as both players sleep. Then games says “Lost connection” and backs you into the main lobby.

  • Players & Platform: How many players joined? Tag them and note who was Host, P2, P3, and P4, plus what platform each was on (e.g. Steam, Xbox Series X/S, PS5).

Host was Xbox Series S, player 2 was PC handheld Steam. Only 2 players total.

  • Game Version: You can find this below the Exit button on the title screen or at the bottom right of your screen.

This just happened 02/05/2026. So which ever game version that is. Yes its updated. We play online.

  • Input Mode: Keyboard & Mouse or Controller? (Steam Deck = Controller)

Controller for Xbox Series S. And also controller for PC. (XBOX ROG ALLY X).

  • PC Specs: If you’re on PC, please check your system using this guide.

PC Specs are XBOX ROG ALLY X. Its a handheld. 24GB RAM. Its powerful enough that im getting about 45-60 Frames on higher settings.

To add to this. We are both on the same Wifi connection. We have 1GB speeds but get around 5-700mb/s average so speed of internet is good. We have also even tried ethernet directly and same issue persists. This has been happening since we started playing this game. We are currently on day 5 Winter year 1. Thanks!

First of all, we’re really sorry you and your partner ran into this. We completely understand how frustrating it is to lose progress after a co-op session. Thank you so much for the detailed report. 🙇‍♀️

When the crash happens, does the Xbox host game fully close and return to the dashboard, or does it stay open and only the co-op session disconnects?

Have you tried sleeping in the same bed vs different houses? Did any of it make a difference?

Hello! The host xbox goes black then back into the main menu of Coral Island. So it stays open but disconnects. We sleep in different beds different homes. We havent tried other beds. Thank you!

I have found that fully closing the game to dashboard after each day avoids this Error.

Well issue is the game server keeps crashing even on a fresh start. So dont think it will resolve it for us. I went ahead and even allowed Xbox to NAT type open and gave it priority over network. Tried fully resetting both modem and Xbox but problem persists. Oddly enough, it even happens randomly shortly after starting the day now. We were able to bypass if by starting the day and running away from the farm (alot of sprinklers) with the hope that reduces server load and it actually worked! But issue keeps coming and going. The servers are unstable

Thanks for the extra details - that really helps. 🙏

Since you mentioned the farm has lots of sprinklers, could you let us know roughly:

  • About how many sprinklers do you have placed?
  • Are you using any auto chests or heavy automation setups nearby?

If possible, it would also really help if you could record a short video (a phone recording is totally fine) showing:

  • The farm area with the sprinklers/machines
  • What happens when the issue occurs

If you’re able to capture it next time it happens, having video from both the host (Xbox) and the guest (PC) POV would give us a much clearer picture of what’s happening on both sides.

We had about 32 sprinklers. I removed them (its winter) but unfortunately the problem still persists. Still crashes right after both parties sleep. The game goes into a loading screen then boots both players out into the starting menu. No auto chests or large chests. Very early game

If the crash happens again, could you let us know in as much detail as possible what you both did during that in-game day before sleeping? For example: farming, mining, diving, combat, decorating, crafting, etc. Even small details might help us spot a pattern.

Also, roughly how many in-game days had you played in that session before the issue started happening? Did it begin early in the save, or only after several in-game days?

The issue started as soon as we started playing the game! Day 1. Heres a video of it crashing now, and this time it actually crashed before we even saved! It was right before we even started the game. Video is showing the xbox series S

  • What Town Rank are you currently at?
  • Have both the host and guest houses been upgraded (Level 1 or Level 2), or are they still at the base level?
  • Do you currently have any active main quests?
  • If possible, could you also share a screenshot of your farm layout?
