I have been curious about this. Do you have to unlock ranching. Or Is it avaliable right away? You can build the buildings I know that.

You get the skill as soon as you start to do any ranching activities, like petting or collecting items from your animals

Every skill unlocks as soon as you begin an activity related to it

Gotcha I asked because I reached town rank E before I restarted anf unlocked ducks and another animal.
