Unable to place fruit trees on free range farm

I think the fruit trees somehow think the deco on the soil (which u as player cannot remove) counts as a obstacle. Sometimes placing a tree works, but when u want to make a small farm with even spaces it just doesn't cooperate. I play on steam, windows 10 pc.

I came to report the same thing. you're not able to plant on some of the tiles even though they are empty (except for decorations in the soil)

here is my save file

its been reproduceable every day.

some tiles are the same even though there are no soil decorations nearby

I've retyped my message 5 times so I'm just going to come out and say it.

Saplings say they need 3x3 not 5x5. Meaning that's a bug not a feature.

I have been able to plant trees at 3x3 just fine, except where ground decorations are - which is what this bug report is about.

i understand. im also giving you a bit of info as a workaround for now. this is what im referring to in the image below for the 5x5

at least until the devs figure out if they truely want it as 5x5 or 3x3. as it says 1 thing but can show another

i don't think that's the issue here since there are tiles that are still greyed out despite having a free 5x5 space around it. plus in powler's recording, a tile is lighting up even tho it only has a free 3x3 space

it could be the same issue from here. if something was planted in the spot if was causing issues with trees being placed there

And yup this is currently an issue where you can place a fruit tree randomly (some tiles can plant and some can't) we're currently fixing it though

So, about the 3x3 or 5x5 tiles: you actually need 5x5 when you place them down, but you can overlap with other fruit trees, so it seems like 3x3 + 3x3 tiles. You can see the image for a clearer picture ✨
