Memory Leak after playing for about 2-3 hours

Hey everyone, Dinda requested that I open a bug report from this https://discord.com/channels/623097219628662784/1466199964828045585 Q&A Post I've created.

I hope I've linked it correctly, if not then I shall correct that.

Dinda also requested I record the Memory Leak including FPS Counter and Task manager, I will do that next time I play for a longer time, that should be somewhen soon.

Hey there, so it seems luck isn't on my side, I either wasn't playing or I had some form of crash forcing me to restart my game. I did however take screenshots of my task manager before and after todays session which was 195 minutes in total and have attached them here. Hope this helps at least a tinge until I can get a proper recording.

Could you let us know whether you were playing as the host or the guest? Also, which graphics preset are you using (Low / Medium / High / Custom)?

If possible, a screenshot of your Display Settings would be really helpful as well. Thanks so much!

Hey Ardian, I am playing as a guest, though so far I am the only guest in a group of 4 which has encountered the issue.

My Graphics preset is set on high, I will send a screenshot of my Display Settings this evening, however please note that switching to a lower Graphics Preset while encountering this issue has not improved my performance.

Should you need the Display Settings such as Resolution and the like, you can find a Screenshot of that in my original thread linked in the question 😄

Hey there, so unfortunately we had a crash yesterday right when we went to bed so we quit the game since we were all pretty bummed out about losing an entire day's worth of progress. I just took the screenshots of my Display settings, to at least be able to show something, hopefully I can get the video you guys requested since the very beginning somewhen soon, sorry for the holdup 😅

Right so, recently it's been a lot better in terms of frame drops, which is part of the reason why I couldn't send a recording. The other is that the XBOX Game bar didn't record and OBS smoothed out the recording so much that you couldn't see anything. I thus had to resort to taking another screenshot of my resources, which I took after about 4 hours of gameplay and while being at about 25 FPS. The lowest FPS I had so far was yesterday, again after about 4 - 5 hours of gameplay, I was sitting at about 13 FPS. Sadly I couldnt get it to go any lower as our host had to close the game since she was stuck in a festival and couldn't get out (already reported that bug).

I hope this helps at least a little bit, I am sorry that I could not get a proper recording for you guys, though I will provide any and all information you require.

So, I finally made a video, had to make it with my phone since everything else kinda failed me.

You might not see the FPS drops initially but I zoomed onto the FPS counter in the top right later on.

If you get a chance, could you ask your friend (as the host) to send their save file as well?

The host can find it by copy-paste this file path to the File Explorer: %localappdata%\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames
then compress the SaveGames folder into a ZIP file before sending it here.

That would really help us check this further.

Just a couple of quick questions, were you playing as Player 2, 3, or 4 in the session?

And does this only happen when all 4 players are in-game? If you’ve tried with just 2 or 3 players, did the FPS drop still occur for you?

We are a total of 4 players who play this save and so far, we've only played it when all 4 people were available so I couldn't tell whether it occurs with less players as well ^^'

I've just checked your host's save file, it looks like you’re in Player slot number 2 - could you confirm if that’s correct?

Also, have you ever tried playing in single player for a similar amount of time (2–5 hours)? If yes, did you notice the same FPS drop happening there as well, or does it only occur in multiplayer? 😮

That is correct, yes, third slot would be LaBranch and fourth slot would be DerpOsaurus 🙂

Got it! Also, from the video, we saw the issue happen around the Hot Spring / Ben’s caravan area - does it always happen in that specific area?

Or does the FPS drop/memory leak happen anywhere after walking around the map for a while?

Happens quite literally everywhere, no matter where I am. Some areas might run better than others but that's maybe a difference of like 5 FPS tops 🙂

I will, I may have time somewhen this saturday, if not then it will take a while until I have time again, so I couldn't rush it regardless ^^

Do you notice if it tends to happen at a certain in-game time? For example, in your video it was after 6PM - does it usually start around nighttime?

Hi there 😄 As far as I'm aware it happens anytime, though it is difficult to tell since it starts gradually, the FPS don't suddendly drop from 60 to the 18 you see in the video but decrease little by little over time 😄

Hello! Thanks for clarifying that the FPS decreases gradually over time and isn’t tied to a specific in-game time.

One small thing we’d like to check. Have you noticed if it happens during certain weather conditions? Like in your video, we can see the weather is Windy.

Does it tend to happen on windy days or during rain/storm? 😮
