Guest player's mailbox and reputation malfunction

It was spring, year 2, village's B rating when this happened. The host loaded our farm, I joined the sessiom and looked into my mailbox. I had 4 apparently unread messages. The first one was congratulating me getting the E rating although we got it few seasons earlier and I read my mail every in-game morning. I can only assume the other 3 messages were congratulation on getting D, C and B ratings but I couldn't know because after reading this message it didn't disappear from the mailbox and choosing next message closed the mailbox every time. During that session every day there were 4 messages in my mailbox and it was always the E rating congratulations message and 3 other messages I couldn't read. No other messages were in the mailbox (according to the number of messages). When we loaded our farm the next day, my mailbox was empty. And I didn't receive any mail during that session. Even when the 2nd spring festival was coming, I got no mail but the host got one. During that particular session I also got no "hearts" (NPC reputation). Doing quests, talking with NPCs, getting A rating got me 0 hearts when the host got a lot of them. So the next time we played, after I connected to the session everything was normal - mails were delivered normally and I got some hearts (mostly from doing quests).

• The exact in-game date when this issue first occurred, if possible
• Whether you were the host or a guest (joining player) in that session
• How many players were in the session at the time (host + number of guests)

@mild cipher can't say for sure but the session with 4 messages (congrats on E ranking etc.) was between 1st and 2nd spring festival (year 2) and the session with neither messages nor "hearts" began before the 2nd festival (year 2). I was the guest. I play with my wife, so there was the host (my wife) and only one guest (me). If this happens again I'll give the exact date.
