Short after achieving town rank B me and my partner have experienced growing crashes.

Players: 2
Systems: hosting on PC
Played 2: steam deck

Connection type: host is wired, steam deck is wireless

Initial event: a few in game days after getting town rank B in year 2 we had an end of day crash, where my partners computer crashed.

Ongoing events:

Every 2–3 in game days we experience a freezing crash, no obvious error log is generated but we get a lost connect error where the host loses connection to the server and the connecting player freezes then loses connection as well.

Causes of crashes:

Cut scenes seem to be cause sometimes

Once we left the game paused for about 15 mins and it crashed when we got back.

My two sense, it sounds like some sort of memory leak. I haven’t had had a chance to check a resource monitor but I’d guess that a the game is using more and more resources per in game day.

Hello @dry oar Thanks again for all the details — just a few quick questions so we can understand this a bit better

  • Are both of you playing on the same network, or on different connections?
  • When the freeze happens, do you remember what was going on at that moment?
  • You mentioned cutscenes sometimes trigger it — do you remember which cutscene it was?

Also, if you happen to have a chance, have you ever checked Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see if there were any noticeable spikes in CPU, memory, or GPU usage around the time the freeze happened?
Totally okay if not — just wanted to ask in case you noticed anything.

Thanks so much for your help, we really appreciate itgoatlove2

  1. We are playing on the same network, the hosting player is wired to the router. The joining player is on a steam deck wirelessly.

  2. More details on each crash I recall:

The initial crash:
Both players had initiated the end of day going to bed, the screen that appears that calculates money played one sound effect then the hosting players screen. The Joining players screen went black as well

Crash 2
The Hosting player was in a Yoga cut scene with one of the older guys by the lake.
The Joining player was Fishing
Then the disconnet message appeared
Crash 3:
The hosting player was organizing items in chests
The joining player was trying to leave a shed(large store house building) when the crash happened. The transition from the shet never loaded the joining player just ended up stuck in the shed.
Then the disconnect message appeared

We can check the other things later today

Some additional info:

We started to see frame rate drops on one day for the joining player. That generally was going to result in a crash.

So the joining player quit the programm and restarted the steam deck and rejoined which resolved it. No crashes after several hours of playing.

Thanks for sharing the details!
We’ve seen similar reports of frame rate drops when a guest joins a session, and the team is currently working on improvements for this.

We’re really glad to hear that restarting and rejoining the session resolved the issue, and that you were able to play for several hours without any crashes after that.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to report this and for your patience!

It has not happened again. What has happened is random frame rate drops. We can trace some of them to loading in and out of storage houses. I will be creating a bug report about that seperately since there is something bonkers going on there.
