Safe to load an old save file

Ok i have an old save file that was made shortly after it exited beta and was released in console and haven't been to it since is it safe to reload or is it a dud now?

@muted bison Can you tell me relatively the last time you played? Before november 2024 or after?

If i remember right they haven't even released underwater farming or anything merkfolk related. I don't even think my character has a tail

Do you remember if the file from early access or 1.0? If it’s from 1.0 onwards you’re fine. If it’s from early access it should still technically work unless it’s been corrupted somehow, but you’re going to be forced to start over from the beginning losing everything but whatever gold was in your inventory.

couple questions. are you playing on steam or console? if steam, can you look up when is the last time you played?
You can go to steam cloud https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage - in front of Coral Island choose Show Files and see the latest date. Was it before november 2023 or after?

If you have played before november 2023 when 1.0 was released then when you'll load the game your save will appear there but when opening it will start a new game (New game+) where you will start with all the money from your early access save.

If you have played after november 2023, then you can continue from the point where you stopped.

Console and i believe the earliest build on console was 1.0

I just wanna make sure that such an old save didn't have any problem with the new stuff

There are no problems with game saves and version compatibility post 1.0 release.
