#Game freezes when leaving application

Reproduction Steps: It doesn't matter what I am doing in the game, if I switch to another application (such as a web browser to look something up) without closing the game, the game freezes, the other player is kicked out, and I have to end the task to get the game to close. I originally figured this out by pressing the window button and changing my keyboard layout (I now use the windows shortcut to change my layout).
Repro Rate: 100% of the time, every time.
Players & Platform: I hosted on steam, 1 other joined on steam (they aren't in this server)
Game Version: 1.2b-1245
Input Mode: Keyboard & Mouse or Controller? Keyboard & Mouse
PC Specs: Asus rog flow z13 (2025)
OS: Windows 11

The longest I waited was around 10 minutes. I've gotten in the habit of opening the task manager whenever it happens since end the task is the only way I've gotten it to close, so I don't usually wait more than a couple minutes. Sorry, I haven't experimented much with it.

It also freezes if my laptop tries to switch to portrait mode. Since my laptop can work as a tablet, if I don't lock the orientation I have accidentally switched it while the game was running. I assume that is a laptop specific problem though.

Hello @last oxide I'm also part of the team and I'm here to follow up on the issue! Do you remember about how long the game was minimized while you were using another app before it froze when you switched back?
Did you pause the game before switching apps?

About the freeze when the laptop accidentally switches to portrait mode, I’ll check that with the team.

If you have any recording of the issue happening, that would be really helpful, thanks!goatlove2

It wasn't minimized, I was either doing something on the task bar (like changing keyboard layouts) or opening another application such as steam or a browser. It freezes instantly, if I simply press the windows key it freezes. No, I did not pause the game, but that is something I can test later today. I don't have video, but I can easily get one tonight.

Sorry, life got busy and I wasn't able to play with my husband. Apparently it recovers after a few seconds if no other player is in the game, so I needed to play with him to get more info.

I have a few videos, some without my husband, one with. While doing the one with my husband, we realized it doesn't completely freeze, it just mostly freezes with occasionally jumping. While you see my video, my husband was able to run around and que up actions (like collecting fish pots) that would all suddenly happen all at once. Time was mostly frozen, over the course of the video you see, it made it to 6:20 on his computer.
