PS5 shuts off during gameplay

PS5 ver 1.002.023
Game randomly causes PS5 to shut off. Can't even turn it back on without pulling the power cable. No particular activity causing it. Been happening for about a week or two. Deleted and reinstalled, and still occurred. Can't submit crash report because it's not detected as a crash, since whole system shuts off. Not happening with other games played on same system.

Just to confirm: did this start happening after the latest update (v1.2-1244), or has it been happening since before the update?

Not entirely sure, as I wasn't able to see when updates have happened. I was having crashes before, but normal ones. It's only been in the last week or so that it's started doing this. The whole system completely turns off, and won't turn back on until I pull the power. There doesn't seem to be any one thing that causes it. Today, I deleted the game and reinstalled it from scratch, but it still happened again. I was fishing at the time, but I don't think that's always been the trigger, so to speak.

If this happened while fishing, we’ve recently received reports that the game crashes when players press the hook button. Is that the same issue you’re experiencing?

I played through a couple of game days just fine, and then tried fishing on the third day. Caught a shrimp and then got interrupted with life, so I pressed the Options button to pause for a bit. It crashed while it was paused (that's happened before, I remember now). I was holding the fishing rod at the time, but not fishing (obviously).

I haven't had a chance to play lately (Christmas is a busy time of year!), but when I played last week, it crashed a couple of times when I wasn't fishing and hadn't even touched the fishing rod. Once while I had hit Options to pause, and again while I was just standing there waiting for time to pass. I saw an update had been installed, so I'll try to get back to it again to see if that has helped…

Playing the game if I play it for a while like 1 and a half hours or 2 it randomly blacks out my screen and shuts off my ps5 entirely doesnt matter where I am in the game it completely shuts off. This doesnt happen with any other game with long play sessions so I know its not my ps5 and its doing the same thing unfortuantly on my gaming laptop.

It occurs after a long play session at max of two hours

Game Platform is Playstation 5

Game Version v1.2b-1245
Input Mode is controller

Crash log is non existent since it completely shuts off playstation

I also have to completely unplug the system in order for my ps5 to turn on again

Hi, thanks again for all the info so far. When it happens, if you restart the game and play again, does it also occur again after around 2 hours?
Does it seem tied to a specific activity or area, or can it happen anywhere once you’ve been playing for a while?

Hello apologize been at college, It does the same thing at random, and my ps5 gets hot even though it is cleaned and checked. It happens anywhere whether Im at the farm or walking to the common area or in the middle of mines, nothing really triggers it.

Just to confirm — when your PS5 overheats, the game then crashes, is that correct?

If possible, could you please send us your in-game display/graphics settings? This will help us look into the issue further.
