I cannot open my previously saved games, I have tried the option to open a backup save and each time the game crashes before it can start. I tried creating a new save and the game crashed after character creation. A save file was created and I can't open that one either. I verified my files and they are good. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Hey! Could you please try the steps below and let us know if the issue persists?

  1. Back up and delete local saves
-Copy-paste this file path into your Windows Explorer: %localappdata%\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames
-Back up the folder, then delete the contents.
  2. Disable Steam Cloud sync
    -Open your Steam Library.
    -Right-click Coral Island → Properties.
-Under the General tab, uncheck Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for Coral Island.
  3. Clear Steam Cloud saves
-Open this link in your browser: steam://open/console
-In the console, type: cloud_sync_up 1158160
  4. Start a new game and check if the crash still occurs.

Please let us know the results after trying these steps.goatlove2

Hi there! I’m also part of the team and happy to help you with this issue. Thank you for taking the time to try out those steps so far Butter_Saranghae_Emoji

To help with further troubleshooting, another player mentioned that they were able to resolve a similar problem by creating a new local administrator account on their PC. You might want to give this workaround a try and see if it helps. You can find the steps here: https://pureinfotech.com/create-local-administrator-account-windows-11/

Additionally, please make sure your Windows is updated to the latest version—Windows 11, if possible—as this can also help resolve the error. If the issue continues after trying these steps, feel free to reach out to us again, and we’ll be glad to assist further.

To create a local administrator on Windows 11 account, use the Accounts settings page, Command Prompt, and PowerShell. Here's how.

I'm able to reproduce this issue on multiple Windows 11 machines; both with totally new saves (using a Steam account that hadn't played at all) and an account with previous saves.

I'm a bit confused on the local admin workaround, does the game need to run as a local admin? The current users running the game are in the local admin group but are domain users.

Hi @reef coral , apologies for the delayed response. To clarify, the workaround is not related to running the game with administrator privileges. Rather, it involves testing the game using a completely local Windows administrator account that is not associated with a domain.

But don't worry! We've passed all the information to the team for further investigation. In the meantime, could you try this instead of running local admin?

  • Open the game
