My friend and I started a MP playthorugh today. On day 2 of Spring year 1, I went to Sam's to complete the quest but instead of getting the cutscene, my screen went black and I had to close the game. I also completed the Home Sweet Home quest but am unable to complete it in my journal. Then with the Visit the Beach Shack quest, I entered it on day 3 of Spring year 1 and got no cutscene and did not receive the fishing rod or bug net. Again, the quest is marked as complete in my journal. My friend and I are playing on Steam Decks.

I tried going to the beach shack the next day, and the cutscene I think triggered but it was like Sam's. The screen went black and I had to exit the game. Still did not receive the net or pole
Hello @nimble rain,
I'm sorry for the trouble, and thank you for reporting this to us.
Could you confirm the host of the session is? Also, did the cutscene turn into a black screen for both you and your friend? 😮
@ivory verge is the host. The cutscenes work fine for her. I've also noticed I haven't been able to see many of the cutscenes in general. The very first Pufferfish cutscene in the town didn't play for me, but did for her. Also the scene where Mark shows up to let us know the mines are open played for her but not me.
Im the host! All of my cutscenes were working and I got the fishing pole and net
Thank you for confirming, everyone. Hmm, that does sound strange. Just to double-check — each time the cutscene didn’t appear for you @nimble rain, were you joining the session for the first time, or re-joining an existing session?
And, Hi @ivory verge, could you please share your save file here as well?
To find it on Steam Deck, you can follow these steps:
• Switch to Desktop Mode
• Go to:
/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/
• Inside that folder, you’ll see many folders with numbers. Look for the Coral Island folder, which uses the code 1158160
• Then open:
pfx → drive_c → Users → <your username> → AppData → Local → ProjectCoral → Saved → SaveGames
If you run into any trouble finding it, feel free to let us know — we’re happy to help! 🙏
Will the save file for the multiplayer game be separate from my individual save?
Each time I was joining an existing session. With the black screen incidents, I would have to force close the game and rejoin.
Yes, it will be saved in a different DailySave file. You can also check the Date Modified to match which file was created when you started the multiplayer game.
If it’s easier, feel free to just zip and share your entire SaveGames folder — the team will help identify which one is the correct multiplayer save.
Got it, thank you for clarifying. Have you also had a chance to check the Mailbox to see if the tool was sent there? And could you also try interacting with the Beach Shack shop to see if the Retrieve Tool option appears?
Yes. They don't get mailed and there's no option to retrieve tools at the shack. Just "shop" and "upgrade tools"
Copy that. Thank you for confirming @nimble rain 🙌
And thank you as well for the save file, @ivory verge! The team will also need to check the Backup files — could you please zip your entire Backup folder and attach it here?
This will help us look into the previous in-game days, too, and give the team a better picture of what happened. Thank you so much!
How do I zip it??
