Hey, I have a strange issue and thought long about reporting it, because its a tiny bit annoying.
So I have a controller (AceGamer Aurora 2.4G Bluetooth Wireless Controller (i use wireless, not bluetooth though)) I play with all my games if possible, when I play at my computer.
The controller is working just fine, but when the battery is empty and I plug it in to load the battery, it doesnt work anymore in coral island. ONLY there. When I cut the cable all is fine again!
In all other games it works just as good as when its not connected via cable. Any idea maybe how this can be fixed?

Hi @wary moss! Thanks so much for sharing the details.
Before we dig deeper, could you please confirm if you're playing through Steam?
Controller behavior can differ depending on the platform, so this will help us guide you better.
Thank you!
Yes, I do play on steam.
Is there any other information you might need?
Thanks for confirming, Mooneye! 🙌
Yes, yes, could you please check these two things:
- When the controller is plugged in and stops working only in Coral Island, does Steam still detect it normally in:
Steam → Settings → Controller → Test Device Inputs? - Are you using Steam Input for this controller?
(You can check by right-clicking Coral Island in your Steam Library → Properties → Controller → let us know what it's set to.)
If possible, could you also share a short video showing:
- The moment the issue happens in-game when the controller is plugged in
- Your Steam controller settings (the two menus above)
This will help us understand what’s happening on your end. Thank you so much!
to 1. when the game isnt running the controller reacts as it should in the test device
2. Im using standard, but I tried steam input as well, both didnt work
when i try the test device with the game running while the controller is connect over cable the test device also doesnt work, no input seen there whatever I do
I tried with another game, farm together 2, and there all works. When I tab out there, the test device also works fine when its in the background.
Now I had a fun idea: I started coral island with the controller plugged in. Ofc it doesnt work.
But then I started farm together 2, Coral Island still running. Controller works there. I tab back to Coral Island - Controller works fine. FT2 still running too btw.
When I turn ft2 off, controller still works fine in coral island too. Not the best solution though :')
But might help to find the cause.
@elfin thicket no idea though?
Thanks again for all the testing you’ve done, Mooneye — it’s really helpful! 🙏
For now, could you please try these steps to see if they help avoid the issue:
-
Restart Steam Input
Go to Steam → Settings → Controller, then disable Steam Input and enable it again.
(This forces Steam to refresh the controller, similar to what happened when you launched another game.) -
Plug your controller in with the cable, then launch Coral Island
After refreshing Steam Input, try starting the game again with the controller connected.
If the issue still persists, could you please share a short phone-recorded video showing what’s happening on your end?
This will really help the team understand the situation better. 🙇♀️
Hello @wary moss! 🙌 Sorry for the ping - just wanted to follow up since we haven’t heard back yet.
If the issue is still happening on your end, feel free to let us know whenever you have the time - no rush at all.
For now, we’ll go ahead and close this thread, but you’re always welcome to reach out again anytime. Thank you!
oh yeah the issue is still there but i just work around it. I dont want to make problems when im more or less the only one with it as it seems... and i figured the controller has problems of strange sorts in other games as well. No idea why. :') I can work around them and just ignore it since i didnt find any solution... anyway, it seems to be a controllerproblem. Just dont buy this one!
thx for reaching out to me though and sorry, i didnt explain myself earlier ^^"
