- Reproduction Steps: I was milking my animals like normal, until I accidentally “milked my llama. Knowing the llama does not produce milk, I was shocked to see my energy go down when the llama doesn’t even need the pale. The video below is what transpired after, to see if it was any animal.
- Repro Rate: This happens any time I am holding shears or a pale and hit square to gather even tho that animal will never produce that product.
- In-Game Date & Time: Fall day 3, Year 2.
- Players & Platform: It was a lobby of just me and my wife both playing on 2 separate ps5’s. My wife was the host P1.
- Game Version: current patch. 1.2-1243

Just to confirm — the video you shared shows the correct behavior when using the shears on your Llama and it produces wool, right?
Also, is the issue only happening with a specific Llama, or does it also occur with your other animals?

Thank you for replying! The issue is persistent with any animal, if you use the pale to milk it’ll drain energy as if you successfully gathered milk. And yes the video shows correct behavior with shears.

Specifically, a clip of when you use the pail on a llama or use shears on a cow, so we can see the energy drain issue happening on your end.

Okay so in my video, I show milking non cows and energy draining. Then milking a cow, which the game recognizes as the correct animal but doesn’t drain.
Then did the same with the shears. Same outcome: energy drained to non shearable animals, and the game recognizing llamas and sheep as non shearable.

Just to double-check something: on the same in-game day, had you already collected milk from the cow or wool from the llama earlier? We want to confirm whether the energy drain is happening only when the animal isn’t ready yet, or even before any product has been collected that day.

So the issue happens if you use an item like the pale or shears on an animal that does not use those items . The game will stop you from gathering from a cow with a pale if it isn’t ready because it knows the cow and pale match. But if I shear the cow. The game just drains energy.
The same rules apply to every other animal. If that helps and makes it simple.
I think a fix could be the same mechanic you have for when you try to pickaxe a tree for example. The game says it isn’t the right tool.
