I've encountered the same issue. If you want I could add the same bug report information with it and I can confirm that Charles (and another NPC when I was playing on a MP farm yesterday had the same issue, but I can't remember who it was) is affected by this bug.

Thank you for the update! Could you send your Save File and Backup Files here so we can take a closer look? To retrieve the files, you can copy-paste the following file path into your Windows Explorer: %localappdata%\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames then compress the SaveGames folder into a ZIP file before sending it here 🙇‍♂️

Thanks for sending in the files! One more thing, could you confirm if the issue happens when you invite the townie to hangout at any specific time of the day?

Or has it been consistently happening every time you picked to hangout there? And could you try replicating the issue again? Please make sure to include everything from the moment you invite them to hang out all the way through the full hangout cutscene. This will help us see exactly what’s happening on your end, thanks in advance approve2

It doesn't really matter when you go on a date with them. I've gone on dates 3 times (I forgot to screenshot Lily), all for chess and all of them were bugged in the cutscene. At this point I think all characters are bugged when taken for chess.
