#Starting hanging/crashing

PS5 version 1.002.020 updated on 26th September. Been playing solo all week no issues. I’m in year 1 fall Harvest Festival day. I have sent the error report through PS build in tool.

I cannot seem to get through this day. Crashed/hung on in-game menu/chest 4 times last night (all different times). Was advised to turn off WiFi on Reddit. Got through the festival but then hung on “exit festival” choice.

During this day I have built a mill, upgraded my watering can, put down an ageing barrel I got from a reward (mail). Nothing out of the ordinary.

The only thing I can say is similar from each instance is I don’t have any input from my controller for a period of time and when I return it has crashed or hung on a screen.

I also noticed some graphics errors in the map prior to this where I would search for townies and the map overlay would be fogged out as though you were in another menu. This didn’t cause any freezing or crashing though. It fixed itself when I restarted the save (not the game itself).

Update: Just tried to get through the day again and succeeded. Only thing I did different was not start building a mill.

Hi @torn tapir , thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! Could you let us know if the game froze or if it completely kicks you out of the game? And could you let us know if it was the first mill you built or if you had built any other mill before?

First instance the game froze in a chest and I had to shut down the game and restart. Then a couple of crashes that prompts you to send a crash report. Then a freeze on the leave festival option.

I was the first mill I had built. It was in the first stage of being built. I had built a coop, barn, silo and upgraded my house previously.

I tried to build the mill, upgrade my watering can and upgrade a crop in the lab on the same day.

I since got through the day without issue when I didn’t upgrade everything on the same day. It has managed to play through several days yesterday and I’ve got a mill down and waiting for it to complete.

I put in my watering can to upgrade to silver and had a silver upgrade for hay in the lab already going. Only thing I changed was not setting my mill to start building. Managed to get through the harvest festival date in the real world evening after it froze on the “leave festival” menu in the real world morning.

Only other thing could have been my controller being low battery and causing issues when triggering the auto-pause. Though my controller had died before and the game auto-paused previously. I’m not sure what the cause is.
