I know a lot of players on PS5 have been experiencing the same thing
It happened 3 times as of currently
1st time: Pressed b on the controller to sprint burst and dashed into the barn door. Thought that was the cause. Was about 7:30 no biggie. Shrugged it off we go again
2nd time: Around noon after breaking coffers and processing fossils and donating the new stuff to the museum. Ranking me up to town rank C, taking a brisk run through to forest for foragables. Boom character freezes mid step and game closes. Mildly annoying given I bought a bunch of clothes and adopted a new puppy (which I lost cause no save between) Was sad, but hey this time I’ll do the smart thing do all the things I planned and sleep to save
3rd time (this most recent): I woke up and left my house, went over to tend to my animals, as I go to pet Temmy the cow another freeze and the games closes yet again

same issue on my xbox too but before the update hotfix v1.2-1241, for the newest update i haven't try it yet

Could you tell us what in-game date the issue happened on? And by any chance, do you happen to have any videos related to this issue?

The first two were on the 19th of Spring Year 2
The 3rd one and (there was now a 4th) have been on the 20th.
I unfortunately don’t, Xbox doesn’t allow you to record outside of a game. And since it sends me to the home screen of Xbox I can’t record em
I can try to get one though
Not the easiest to determine but again I can’t record outside of a game. But the two seconds between my character stopping and then end of the video are the freeze. Then the video ends because the game closed
I’ll take this 5th one as my sign to log off for the night

Also just to share, some players mentioned that turning off Wi-Fi allowed them to play smoothly. We’ve also seen reports of a recent PSN outage, which might be related, so you’re welcome to give that a try. Thank you!
