Hello, I cannot host my multiplayer world anymore. It shows that there was a connection error (film) that the host has been disconnected. Well, I'm the host and can't connect at all. I've tried verifying the files through Steam but it didn't help. I have a stable internet connection and haven't had this problem before. I completely cannot load my multiplayer world.
#Muliplayer connection error after the update

Hi @gloomy venture , thank you for reaching out to us! Have you tried using a different internet connection to see if that resolves the issue?
hi @indigo pebble , yes. I've tried connecting through WiFi, through the cable and even through hotspot from my phone. Same issue no matter what I try.
We just tried using a VPN on top of those and it didn’t work either unfortunately
Thanks @gloomy venture @agile narwhal for sharing more information! I’ll pass the details along to the team for review, and I’ll be sure to follow up with you if we need any more information or have any updates to share
Same problem. I tried multiplayer on other games and it work just fine.
same problem here, other multiplayer game is working fine
same issue.
same issue here
Same issue🥲
There was a DDOS attack on AWS servers causing the outage of most online multiplayer games
same issue here, this morning i was playing it just fine...
same issue as well here. its been more than a week i can't access multiplayer
Yep as Astral Aoi shared, at this moment there's issue with AWS that's affecting all platforms for multiplayer. Hopefully the issue will be solved soon
. If even after the AWS issue is resolved, you still can't connect for multiplayer, I encourage you to open a new report here. But for now we can only wait. Thank you fall for your understanding.
Same here, I played for 3 hours before the update then updated the game and couldn't host the game anymore. But maybe it's just a coincidence and it really is just the AWS issue.
thankyou for identying the cause! 😄 i couldn't fathom how it wouldnt work xd
Thank you so muchh!!! Now i can play it, just now.
Just tested it again as well, took a while to load but I can get back into the game now!
Hiya everyone! Thanks for letting us know that some of you are now able to play and connect normally, that’s great to hear! 🎉
Just to double-check, is anyone here still experiencing this issue? If so, please feel free to let us know!
Hola a todos, nos sigue pasando, juego desde pc al igual que el compañero con el que juego y no le deja iniciar con el mismo mensaje de que se perdió la conexión del anfitrión, independientemente de si prueba a ser anfitrión uno u otro.
I am also experiencing this issue. I can neither host nor join my partner's game. When I attempt to join via my partner's farm's code, I get the error message "Session not found." When I attempt to host my own multiplayer game, I get "The connection to the host was lost. The host may have gone offline or disconnected unexpectedly."
I have already attempted to restart the game and restart my computer. My partner has done the same.
I have previously joined his game without issue, for the last few days.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Have you tried changing your internet connection to see if it resolves the issue?
We are not speakers of your language, so we will answer in English.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this issue. Have you tried changing your internet connection to see if it resolves the issue? And could you send a screenshot of the error message that showed up after your attempt to log in?
Thank you!

Hola, lamento que estés experimentando este problema. ¿Has probado a cambiar tu conexión a Internet para ver si se resuelve el problema? ¿Podrías enviarnos una captura de pantalla del mensaje de error que apareció después de intentar iniciar sesión?
¡Gracias!
I'm having this exact issue today. My wife and I played yesterday and the day before just fine, but today I'm getting that message as the host. I did try changing my internet connection, but it's still not working.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing similar issue! Could you specify which error message you got when you attempted to log into the multiplayer session?
"The connection to the host was lost. The host may have gone offline or disconnected unexpectedly."
I have not and cannot, since this is my only internet source at this time. That being said, I have a Steam Deck and tried and succeeded playing multiplayer on there. It's still not working on my computer though. Same internet connection used by both. And my partner who does not have this issue (on computer), is also on that same internet connection.
@hollow jackal I have the same issue right now
I get the same message and can't play mutliplayer. Already tried another Internet connection and I have played multiplayer after the update. So it should be nothing different, but it sadly doesn't start.
I'm having the same issue. I was able to play with my friends just fine before, but I haven't been able to play co-op mode since three days ago.
same happening here
A family member is also having the same issues past few days, can't connect or start co-op.
Had been working before and stopped working a few days ago.
Works on other computers on the same network, very strange.
Doesn't seem to be firewall or DNS issue.
Hi I am also experiencing this issue of connection to host was lost, up until a few days ago everything was fine. However no matter what I do I cannot load the game with my partner. I've tried updating drivers, using a vpn, running steam in administrator mode, virus cleaning, restarting computer, unplugging and restarting internet connection. I am the host of the mp file. My partner can load the game just fine, but obviously we want to continue with our progress with my file with hosting. Please help and advise.
same issue here, I played cross play pc and ps5 on the same network.
Hello, my friend is experiencing the same issue. She cant join or host multiplayer session. Yesterday it was fine for her but today its not, she tried different ways to fix it (firewall, different internet connection, running the game as admin) and nothing works. She doesn't have multiple devices so she cant test that, but yesterday the game was working.
I have the same issue. Can't host a game on Steam, can't join a PS5 hosted game as well. I have fixed everything I can think of, even switching the GHz band of the WiFi but nothing helped. I've bought the game exclusively for CoOp play and am, well, stuck.
hi i'm having the exact same issue. i'm the host and my partner can't join off of me, not even via steam invite / the code in-game. we both play on PC (steam)
Hello, I'm also experiencing the same prob. Can't join/host multiplayer session. Three days ago was fine. Also tried different ways to fix it too and don't want to change any files related to the game itself anymore.
Hi @young forum @hollow jackal @wispy shore @paper galleon @proper flax @lean terrace @solid osprey @hasty geode @queen hare @torn quail @lament summit @stone pewter @junior vine ! Could you please share the ping for both the Host and Guest when the issue occurred? Also, if the Host relaunches the session or restarts the game, does the issue still continue afterward? Your details will really help us look into this further — thank you!
When it happen, ps5 ping was 0 and pc (steam) ping was stable on 24 or a bit more (not really remember). Before and after restarting it was the same. As I remember the pc ping was steady below 36.
However, before pc (steam) disconected and not able to join again untill now, the wing was 111 or else, I just remember it was red on ping status.
Also @torn quail @junior vine @hasty geode @solid osprey @lean terrace @proper flax @paper galleon @viscid pagoda @wispy shore @clear wyvern , could you tell us which platform are the Host and Guest playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5) when the issue occurred? This information will really help us narrow things down
I have the same issue. we both play on steam on the pc. I can neither host a game nor join a multiplayer game
Hiyaa! Just to check, did this happen after the latest update today (v1.2-1243)? 😮
yes! it does not working
Both playing on Steam (PC) when we have the issue. When I switched to my Steam Deck, we did not have the issue
Both games were played on pc/laptop Steam. Friday we played both from a different adresses and everything worked. Saturday we attempted to play from the same adress but my friends game could not host a game nor join a game. We tried restarting both devices, restarting router, reinstalling the game on my friends device, installing the game on a new laptop where she logged in and attempted to join a game - nothing worked. Sunday morning tried to host a game again (from the same IP address) and still nothing. Sunday evening tried to host from a different IP address (the one from Friday) and it worked.
I am the host and play on laptop. Restarting and the new update today did not help. My friend plays on PC. Sorry, but I don't know how the see the ping.
Play on PC, host ping normally is 0 by default, but the thing is that this happened when host trying to load the multiplayer save and unable to launch the save as the game noti said 'The connection to the host was lost.~'
The host restarted the game/ restarted PC/ uninstalled and reinstalled the game/ turn firewall and antivirus off yet still unable to launch the multiplayer save file. In addition trying to create a new multiplayer save still have the same problem.
I’m playing on a Steam PC. Before this issue occurred, everything worked fine and my ping wasn’t high. However, the next day I suddenly couldn’t join my friend’s farm. It keeps showing “Not farm found,” and when I try entering the code manually, it also says “Session not found.” or click refresh, nothing shows up. I’ve tried restarting the game, restarting my computer, changing my Wi-Fi network, and even reinstalling the game, but the problem still persists.
hello! i don’t remember our exact pings when this happened, but it was stable/in the green. my pc is ethernet connected. both the host and the other player tried restarting the game a few times to see if that fixed the issue, but it didn’t^^
same issue on Shadow PC on latest release - tried on multiple networks, added to firewall exemption, performed Windows Reset, reinstalled steam/coral island, and reset network adapter all on shadow PC.
Can provide logs if file path is provided
When you switched to steam deck, could you confirm whether you're still using the same connection as before?
different internet when it does not work. same internet when it does work, as a byproduct of me being on his internet, when I'm on my steamdeck. my computer isn't at his place
Could you also confirm if you previously used LAN cable and then switched to Wi-Fi when you were finally able to log into the game?
Hi everyone @torn quail @paper galleon @junior vine @proper flax @stark hamlet , could you confirm whether you're connected to the internet using a LAN cable or Wi-Fi?
We video calling using PC with LAN (same connection) working fine, were watching Youtube, Netflix, etc. also when log into the game itself is fine, Single player also fine without problem, but once logging in Multiplayer mode, its loading for 5 sec and the bug happens. Change to another PC to host the game solve this problem, but I want to play on my daily PC so.
I tried both and it showed the same error message that's already posted.
Well noted @junior vine @paper galleon ! Have you had a chance to try switching your internet connection to a mobile hotspot to see if the same error message appears? We’re just trying to explore every possibility to help narrow down the cause and get this sorted for you
Ask all you need 🙂 I tried switching to a hotspot from my phone but the same error popped up.
Just had a chance to try it few mins ago, still the same error.
my husband and me are on the same LAN connection. On his PC it works, on mine not. But on my Laptop it works, unfortunately the laptop is too slow to play 🙁
We tried both, both times it didnt work... even hotspot didnt fix this issue
@paper galleon @proper flax @stone pewter @stark hamlet @paper galleon could you confirm if the Host & Guest are using the same connection? If not, could you tell us whether the Host & Guest play in the same country, or if the Host & Guest are playing from different countries?
host and guest weren’t on the same network, but do live in the same country
And since Izushy has noted successful log in after changing IP address, could you try to play on a different IP address to see if resolves the issue? This would help us further troubleshoot the issue
Shadow PC is on a separate virtualized LAN - host and guest are on different networks, both in US.
We tried same and different networks. The guest can't do much, because the host can't even start the multiplayer safe file. Same country.
Sorry I can't try on another IP adress (have no VPN or something like that).
Hiya! When you play on your laptop, are you using a LAN connection as well? 😮
Hi @here. We really appreciate you sharing all this information, it’s been super helpful for our team in narrowing down what might be causing the issue. Sorry that we keep asking for more details, but we just need a bit more information to make sure we cover everything 🙏
When you first experienced the prompt “The connection to the host was lost,” did it start happening every time you played co-op? Or did it only happen occasionally, for example: sometimes it connects fine, but other times it doesn’t (so it’s unpredictable) while using the same connection without changing anything?
This information will really help our team look into it further. Thank you so much for your patience and help!
Hi @torn quail , since you mentioned restarting your router earlier, could you please try resetting it as well? It should refresh your IP address, which hopefully help resolve the issue.
Everytime for me. Can't play multiplayer since then. Tried different days, times and networks
It happens consistently every time - happy to provide any additional information to get back on the farm!
@paper galleon @stark hamlet Noted that it happens consistently, thank you for that info 📝
Could you please check out this article and then let us know if one of the troubleshooting steps helped you or not? Thank you so much for your help!
A connection issue is anything that prevents you from being able to use the Epic Games Launcher or any other Epic Games product. This could
yes, the same connection
Hi Shei, sorry for the late reply. Playing on different IP adress resolved the issue. We will try resetting the router next time we will play on the same IP adress and see if it fixes things.
I switched to a new computer. My guess is, the problem has something to do with Windows 10
Issue first started happening after installing a new router. Since the first instance of it happening it has happened every time since for both hosting and joining a friend. @placid atlas mentioned that Windows 10 may be partly the issue which would line up with the issue we are having here. The game doesnt work on one pc which is Windows 10 while the other is on Windows 11 which does work. I shall try another IP address at the next opportunity and report back.
I also play on windows 10. Could be the problem. But I have no other device with windows 11 to test and I can't upgrade mine. What I don't understand is why it suddenly stopped working. We last played on October 31st and some days later the error message started. We really miss our farm.
I tried what I can from the article and it still doesn't work.
We tried on my brother's laptop with windows 11 and it worked (but I can't borrow it). So it seems to be a problem with windows 10.
Update from my side: Updated from Win10 to Win11 today. Still have the same bug.
Having the same issue over here ever since the patch. It is consistently saying "The connection to the host was lost..." I am the host. My husband and I are playing through Steam. the game crashes as soon as I try to launch any multiplayer session. Single player games are not loading either. It stays stuck at 99% and never loads.
Hi, I'm also having the same issue! I cannot find my friend's session, I tried every method possible. I also tried to host one and it just says connection to the host was lost.
Here's what I've tried:
- running the game and steam as administrator
- turning off compatibility mode
- restarting steam/the game/my computer several times
- fixing the integrety of the files
can't be connection issues since I can play other games just fine.
other players can join a friend's session but not me. I tried to join via right clicking their profile and join the game. tried putting in on the code (it says the session can't be found). tried joining via their invite. tried hosting my own. nothing works.
I have tried forcing the pc to another internal IP and this has not fixed the issue.
This article is for Epic Games, however our issue (personally not necessarily for all in the thread) is for Steam.
No luck - tried each applicable step, including changing DNS to quad-8s and 1s. Have tried from a different host machine and network as well.
Noted, thank you so much for confirming! 🙏
Thanks for confirming that switching to another internal IP didn’t help! I’ll pass this info along to the team and get back to you again 📝
In the meantime, could you give the article I shared above a try? We’re using Epic Online Services for the initial handshake of our multiplayer system (so it applies to Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation too), which might’ve made it seem a bit confusing since the guide came from Epic.
A connection issue is anything that prevents you from being able to use the Epic Games Launcher or any other Epic Games product. This could
Could you let us know which steps you’ve tried from the article? Also, noted that you’re playing on Windows 11! 📝
No windows 10
Yeah, what I meant is that it works on Windows 11, but not on Windows 10 when you tried earlier. Sorry if that sounded a bit confusing! 😅 🙏
Hello,
Since the last patch, my partner and I have been experiencing a similar issue.
I can start the game as host, but she is unable to join, even via a Steam invitation.
If she clicks on the invitation, the game launches but she does not join the game; she remains on the home screen.
When she manually enters the session code,
she gets a message saying that the session does not exist.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you need more information to help the teams catch the issue.
We have 100% the same issue here.
Hi @lean swallow @covert crater , I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing similar issues 🙇♂️ Could you please let us know which platform the Host and Guest are playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5) and send a screenshot of the error message here?
Hi, we are both on steam, i host the game from a steam pc so
We have the Same Problem since the last Patch, we cant Play on our Farm. It says that the Connection to the Host was Interrupted or the Host may be offline or that the Connection was lost. But I do have a stable Internet Connection. And we tried the article from Epic Games 🙁
Playing on Steam on a handheld device
We are playing on Steam/ PC as well
We have the same error message: "Session not found" - when my GF try to join via invation code. Inviting her via steam is also not working.
Our farm do not show up on her multiplayer tab
as host i can join our farm without problem
I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing this issue @mystic wyvern @covert crater
Could you let us know which platform the Host and Guest are playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5) and your current game version?
@indigo pebble Hello, I am experiencing multiplayer connection issues as well. Mine is odd in that I was hosting the game on my desktop computer and while we would get occasionaly disconnects (where even I as host would get disconnected "from the server" and latency issues, we only lost a day's progress occasionally. But I bought a new gaming laptop and we cannot connect at all using that. Other games work just fine between my laptop and her desktop, but not coral island. We get a "connection too unstable" message.
Note I can log back into my desktop and she can connect, just not from the laptop. I have also had her host a game and I was unable to connect from the laptop.
PC info:
My Desktop that works: 7800X3D processor, 3080 graphics card, 32 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD.
My Laptop that does not: Legion Pro 7i, Core Ultra 275 processor and 5080 graphics. 32 GB RAM, 2 TB SSD.
My wife's computer is a 7800X3D processor with a 3060, 32 GB RAM and a 2TB drive.
Tried it wifi and wired.
Same game version on all of them: 1.2-1243
Sure. Like i allready wrote below: We are playing on Steam/ PC as well. Host and Guest.
The current Game Version is v1.2-1243 and I Play on Xbox Series S and my Partner who CANT joyn our Farm as a Host Plays on the handheld device named MSI Claw A8 Ai+
So it is Not possible for both of us to joyn the farm
Hey there, I'm so sorry to hear that you're having a connection issue! We have received similar reports regarding the "Connection too Unstable" error message and we're currently investigating the issue here: https://discord.com/channels/623097219628662784/1406061246020583635
Please feel free to add any information there to help us keep everything organized. You can also follow the thread for any updates regarding the issue! Thanks so much for your understanding 🙌
Well noted @covert crater @mystic wyvern , thank you for sharing more details with us! Could you confirm if the Host & Guest are using the same connection? If not, could you tell us whether the Host & Guest play in the same country, or if the Host & Guest are playing from different countries?
Hello, I am running version 1.2-1243 and I'm unable to start or join any multiplayer games. I have tried several of the recommendations from this chat and the epic games help article but no change. I am running on Windows 11, and I have also reset my PC back to factory defaults. Everything is up to date, I tried changing connection and still no luck. Another computer in my house is able to start a multiplayer game without issue.
Yes we use the Same Network, we Play in the Same room together
We use the same connection and sit next to each other in the same country 🙂
in the same room
Hi! Any news about a potential patch or a hotfix about this issus ?😔
My partner and I are having the same connection problem. The game will load up for us, but crashes about every twenty minutes or so. We've tried resetting the connection, connecting to WiFi and a wired connection, but it doesn't necessarily change anything. We're playing on the same network, in the same room. Both on Windows 10 at this point
Just downloaded the new beta patch, beta-12b, and i'm still experiencing the same issues. I cannot host my own multiplayer game and I cannot join a friends multiplayer game that others are able to join either via co-op tab or with a code.
Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing similar issue. Would you mind creating a report on the beta bug report channel so we can keep track of each issue accordingly? You can do so here: https://discord.com/channels/623097219628662784/1406813775322943489
Please be sure to include the screenshot of the error message on the report. Thank you for your understanding!
I'm so sorry to hear that you're experiencing something similar. Could you confirm if you got the "The connection to the host was lost" prompt?
And thanks @mystic wyvern @covert crater for the confirmation! I'll pass the info to the team and I'll reach back to you if we need more information.
In the meantime, could you give this article a try? We’re using Epic Online Services for the initial handshake of our multiplayer system (so it applies to Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation too), which might’ve made it seem a bit confusing since the guide came from Epic. Please let us know how it goes

i have try it. nothing worked for us.
We already did that. Nothing works
when can we expect a fix ? we cant play since one month 🙁
yes, we too. it is realy frustrating.
@indigo pebble is there any chance we could have an update on if theres been any progress on this? I'm sure any one of us would be happy to join a call and show the issue if it helps solve it so we can play
Hi there @covert crater @mystic wyvern @lean terrace and everyone! We’ve gathered all the information everyone has shared so far and passed it along to the team for further checking. Please rest assured that we’re actively working on fixing the remaining connection issues and we will try to include it on the upcoming update. Hopefully, the fix included in the update will fix the connection issue everyone has been experiencing.
Once the update that include the fix is live, we will inform everyone in this thread. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on fixing this 🙇♂️
Hey there. Any news on when this update may be released?
My wife and I have been having this problem with our co-op game and recently discovered a new bit of information that may be relevant.
Previously, she had hosted the game from her windows 10 laptop and I had joined from mine running windows 11 and it worked fine.
Then we got the same issue as everyone else here.
Today, we tried switching laptops, and I was able to open the co-op game from her account on my (w11)laptop, but it didn't show up on her (w10) laptop logged into my account. Also could not start a new multiplayer game from the windows 10 laptop, but can with the windows 11 one.
We currently don’t have an exact ETA to share. Once everything is ready, we’ll make sure to update everyone. Thanks for your patience!
Thank you for sharing your most recent findings! We will note this down and relay this information to the team
Same issue here
I am not able to access that channel to submit the bug. I have recently tried upgrading from windows 10 to windows 11. And connecting an Ethernet cable directly to my computer from my router rather than wireless connection. Both didn’t fix my issue. Still unable to join a multiplayer farm or host one.
The new update brings many new things to the game. Unfortunately, the multiplayer connection bug hasn't been fixed. My girlfriend still can't connect to our farm, just like before the update. It's a shame.
Okay never mind. My GFs Windows was out of date and she used Windows 10 and i use windows 11. So we updated from win10 to 11 and here we go it worked fine for us now. thank you!
please i need the solution for this problem:( i have same issue
Hi there! Thanks so much for letting us know everything’s working now. Just to double-check, after the recent game version update, was the only change you made updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11?
Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing this issue. Could you let us know which platform are the Host and Guest playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5) and what is your current game version?
In addition, could you send a screenshot of the error message you received?
@indigo pebble I can't access multiplayer at all now. This first started happening after the late October patch. My game is undiscoverable on our local network even though it was fine before. I can't host a new game, join or see any games at all but my single player runs fine. Is my multiplayer bricked? How do I resolve this issue? I have tried everything - resetting network, uninstalling and reinstalling, verifying and deleting files, disconnecting from VPN, changing IP, changing DNS, changing adapters. At this point, it must be a server issue? It always says "cannot connect to host" even when I AM the host. My screenshot is the same as the others that have been shared. Please advise or DM. Thank you.
Thank you for reaching out to us and we truly apologize for the issue you're currently facing 🙇♂️ Could you let us know which platform you're playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5)?
I think the problem is that my friend and I are using different versions of Windows. I'm on Windows 10 while my friend is on Windows 11, so we can't co-op together. But when my friend logged into my Steam account on another Windows 11 PC and played with another friend who also uses Windows 11, they could find the room and play without any issues. So I think Windows devices using the same version can play together, but different versions can't. That seems to be the issue.
here you go, this is the problem.. i use windows 10 and my bf uses windows 11. is that caused the problem?
I'm experiencing this issue as well, on Steam.
i want to play with my bf so bad... please solve it asap 😭
The Multiplayer Mode is still NOT working!
Thank you @proper flax for sharing your findings with us! Could you tell us if it was the Host or Guest who used Windows 10?
And hey @solid osprey @mystic wyvern I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the issue. Could you please check whether the Host and Guest are playing on different versions of Windows? If they are, would you mind letting us know which version each player is using? Thank you
Hi nan! A few other players mentioned that switching to Windows 11 helped them play the game. If possible, could you try that too and see if it works for you? 😮
hi dina! yesterday i tried it again and it works just like usual and i didnt make any changes like update my windows version. thanks for any advices ❤️
That’s such good news! We’re really happy to hear you can play normally again!
And just to confirm, this happened without you changing any settings or your connection? It just suddenly decided to work fine on its own? 😮
It was the guest who used Windows 10, and the host was on Windows 11.
My friend still has this issue. I can host the server, but she cannot join as the game states "The connection to the host was lost."
We haven't been able to play together since the latest update. We play on Steam (PC), we have verified our files, restarted the game, our PCs and changed wifi connection. None of these things have helped. Please fix the issue ❤️
@long wigeon
We're having this issue for one of our players not being able to join, constantly saying that the connection was lost repeatedly. The host is PS5, and the guests are both PC. One can get in, the other cannot. They were working just fine two days ago.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you for your confirmation! Could you also let us know if the Host & Guest are using the same connection, and whether you're using Wi-Fi or LAN cable?
And hi @solid pewter @desert ibex , I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing the issue. Could you please check whether the players who are using PC are playing on different versions of Windows? If they are, would you mind letting us know which version each player is using? Thank you
They were not. All settings were the same, but we did get it running after all of us got the game files verified 3 separate times. Which, seems excessive.
Noted! And just to confirm, did the guest get the following error message or a different message entirely?
Same message, yes. While just trying to load into the save.
I am the guest using Windows 10 on Wi-Fi, and my friend is the host using Windows 11, also on Wi-Fi. We can’t play together. But when I gave her my Steam account, she logged in on her Windows 11 PC and could co-op with another friend who also uses Windows 11 (with a LAN connection) without any issues. But we used to be able to play together normally, and this problem only started in October.
Got it! Could you please let us know which Windows version the guests are currently using?
I see, thanks for providing us with some additional details. Since October, have you been able to log in to the session successfully at any point?
They're both using Windows 11.
No, I haven’t. Since late October, I haven’t been able to play in co-op at all. Whether I join as a guest or host the session myself, it doesn’t work. But I can still play in single-player mode without any problems.
I see
A few other players mentioned that switching to Windows 11 helped them play the game. If possible, could you try that too and see if it works for you?
I have the same issue, my wife's pc doesn't support Win 11, will there be a fix for win10?
Hi! At this time, we’re still not entirely sure if Windows 10 is the cause, since some users who’ve installed Windows 11 are still experiencing connection issues.
In the meantime, could you please check out this article? It’s one of the suggestions from our teams.
Hello , any news about this problem ?We are still got this issues after the major update
We ran some additional tests, and my partner cannot create a co-op game; she is disconnected.
She is using Windows 10.
Hello! By any chance, have you tried one of the troubleshooting steps from this article ? If so, did any of the steps work for you? Thanks in advance! 😮
A connection issue is anything that prevents you from being able to use the Epic Games Launcher or any other Epic Games product. This could
I don't understand the point because we use Steam, not EpiX or Xbox.
Ahh, we use Epic Online Services for the initial multiplayer handshake, so this applies to Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation as well.
From the 12 troubleshooting steps there, was there anything that wasn’t clear? We’re happy to help! 🙂
Okay, we'll try to do that. I'll keep you posted.
Okie dokie! Fingers crossed one of those steps helps you play co-op without any issues 🥺 🙌
Hi, my friends experiencing the same issue, she can't open her co-op save game even though she is the host, she tried to do ping test to epic games service and it doesnt have any issue (at least for specific 1 server address)
Hello! When you mentioned that she can’t open her co-op save file, do you mean she was able to play normally before and then suddenly couldn’t access it? 😮
ah yes, we are able to play together a week before
Could you share your host save file here? I’ll pass it along to the team so they can take a look later 🙂
Also, just to help with testing: has your friend tried creating a new game? If so, does she still get the “connection to host lost” issue, or does this only happen with her current co-op save file?
it's not related to save game I think, she tried to create a new coop game but have the same issue
You mentioned earlier that your friend tried doing a ping test to Epic Games, could you confirm whether she’s already tried all the troubleshooting steps in this article and that none of them worked? 😮
A connection issue is anything that prevents you from being able to use the Epic Games Launcher or any other Epic Games product. This could
is this really related to epic games? if yes could you provide how to test the connection to epic games to check if it's really the issue? like server address to ping. before we do the troubleshoot
Okay so just to clarify about Epic Games: we use Epic Online Services for the initial multiplayer handshake, so this applies to Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation as well.
I can definitely check in with the team regarding this and the issue you’re facing. Since we’re currently on a holiday break, for now what I can do is log this so it can be looked into as soon as the team is back 😉
Happy Holiday. It seems she can't play the game when using starlink but able to play while tethered using mobile data, but previously it's working fine.
I am also suddenly having this problem. I am trying to host and I am getting the message "The connection to the host was lost. The host may have gone offline or disconnected unexpectedly."
I hosted the file yesterday and was experiencing some lag, but that is probably not important. I already tried restarting the game and my computer, but I am still getting the same message. I am playing on my desktop
My stuff isn’t connecting it says an error occurred when I try to host a multiplayer game. I’m on Xbox
I just tried starting a new multiplayer file and had the same message appear, but my wifi seems to be working correctly
Having this issue also.
Yeah I'm currently having the connection issue now and I can't host my own mp session
It looks like steam is having mp issue, and so is ps5, says network connection as well
I’m having the same issue, was on my file with a close friend of mine yesterday and it was working just fine! Now I can’t host my mp session
Also having this issue now, friend was hosting a farm and says "disconnected from host" even though he his the host, and i just tried to make a coop game myself and it gives me the same error
is it still down for now for people?
just tried it and it works. i assume the server was having issues and it has a auto refresh at midnight. sadly my friends are asleep now
I am still having this issue.
My wife can open our co-op game that she hosts from her windows 11 pc
When I look for the game my wife is hosting, no games show up in the join menu.
When I try to open an existing game that I host, or start a new game as the host, I get the message shown in the picture.
I have tested and I can connect to the epic games server.
I have done what parts of the epic games troubleshooting article I can.
Since the game doesn't actually use the epic games launcher, I can't do the steps that require opening or modifying that program.
Game version 1.2b-1245
Windows 10
When we first started this co-op game late October, in game version v1.2-1242, the multiplayer worked without issue.
The issue started after downloading the v1.2-1243 hot fix
We have tested signing in on each other's PCs, and whichever account is signed in on the windows 10 PC is the one that gets error message
ie. I can open the co-op game that I host when signed into her windows 11 PC, and she cannot open the game that she hosts when signed into my windows 10 PC
Hi hi! Good to know she can finally connect and play co-op when using mobile data (and it doesn’t work with Starlink 😮). I’ll definitely pass this along to the team once they’re back 🙏
Hi everyone @strong valve @supple dust @hallow timber @gloomy nymph @vernal shore @errant orbit @twin rain @mystic escarp,
So sorry for the late reply, as the team’s currently on a holiday break. We also found out a few days ago that there was a server issue. Could you let us know if you’re still having trouble connecting to co-op? 🙏
I am no longer having the issue, I think it had to do with steam
Yeah same, haven’t had issues since that day.
@strong valve @gloomy nymph got it, thanks for confirming! Hopefully it stays that way 🤞
But if you run into any other issues, don’t hesitate to let us know!
Just confirmed, still having the same issue
Still having the same issues since the latest update so I am assuming this didnt happen...
I confirm to , i am still having the same issues
I did everything described on the Epic website, but nothing changed.
My partner tried again to create a multiplayer game, and she got an error message saying that it was impossible to connect to the host.
Honestly, this is starting to take a long time...
Hello! Thank you for confirming that you’re still experiencing this issue and that you’ve tried all the steps in the Epic article without success 🙇♀️
I’ll relay all of this to the team, but before I do, I’d like to double-check a few details with you:
- Your friend is on Windows 10. Could you let us know which Windows version you’re using?
- As the host, you’re able to create a new game, but your friend can’t join either via Steam invite or by manually entering the code. When joining via Steam invite, she gets stuck on the title menu, and when entering the code manually, it shows “session not found.” If she hosts instead, are you able to join her session?
- Are you both playing from the same house or city?
Thank you so much for your help! 🙏
Hello! Have you tried the troubleshooting steps in this article: https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/c-202300000001619/c-202300000001672/how-to-troubleshoot-connection-issues-a202300000011919 ?
Just a note: we use Epic Online Services for the initial multiplayer handshake, so this applies whether you’re on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation (in case you were wondering why the article is from Epic)
I have tried what of them I can.
The ones involving the epic launcher itself I cannot do, as the game doesn't install that
Ahh, noted thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps from the article! I’ll relay this back to the team
Before I do, could you help clarify one part for me? When you said “When I look for the game my wife is hosting, no games show up in the join menu” does that mean your wife is hosting, but you’re unable to join her session either via Steam invite or by manually entering the code? If you’ve tried joining, do you see any error message or popup at all? 😮
It is a game that we played together successfully before the patch that broke it. I originally joined via steam invite.
When she opens the game as the host now, I show up as a player for her, but when I open the multiplayer menu to join a game nothing shows up.
If you’re able to, could you record a quick video showing this? That would really help us take a look 🙂
Sure thing, as soon as I get back to my computer
Yup yup! Thanks for the help, looking forward to your reply!
Windows 10, not able to create a game to host, unable to connect to another session on any of the methods and yes both in the same city
Hi Jay! Thanks for sharing this info! If possible, could you also share the pop-up message you saw when you were unable to connect? Was it a “connection to host was lost” message, or something else? 😮
Hi Dinda !
Good news, i don' know why, but now it's working
Just to feedback the game appears to be working now
Hello @lean swallow @lean terrace Glad to hear the issue is resolved on your end! If you notice anything else, feel free to reach out anytime.
Just popping in here to say I had this happen tonight as well - i closed my game 3 or 4 times and so did the friends I was playing with - this happened around <t:1770345900:F> it resolved itself about 15 minutes later? but it happened right as we were all going to sleep and the game was saving but before it actually saved so we had to redo that entire day which was a bummer
i did check my internet, and so did my friends - but I am the host so this error should not have been what i saw anyways
Hi there, sorry to hear that you experienced that during your Co-Op session
Just to double-check, does this issue happen after you go to sleep and the game crashes during the end-of-day save?
If you’re able to, could you also let us know what the Host and Guests were doing throughout the day before the crash happened? Any details you remember can really help us narrow things down. Thanks!
I am having the exact same issue. The issue happens immediately after both players go to sleep: The waiting for other players pop-up shows up as normal briefly, but before cutting to black and starting the end of day menus it jumps to the title screen for both players and displays the above (the image Lady Brittany's shared).
The Error is not repeatable through the players daily actions or activities because after 3 of the crashes both players repeated every action again and the progressed to the next day without issue or Error. The Error also has not happened at the end of the same day twice. It happens constantly on the second or third day played in succession. What ever is causing the Error has to do with something after the players go to sleep but before/during the save process, because the whole day is always not saved.
I suspect that it will not happen at all if the game is closed after the start of the next day (I plan on trying this tonight)
I can confirm that if both players close the game entirely after each day the Error dose not happen.
How ever if you only go to the title screen after each day it will look like this.
Dispite everything being (*) out others can join just fine but the game will crash at the end of that day.
Hello there, I'm sorry to hear that you're also experiencing this issue 🙇♂️ Could you let us know if this issue only happens after getting disconnected during gameplay, or if you’ve seen the same error message at other times too? 😲
It has only happened at the end of day after going to sleep. Since quiting at the beginning of the fallowing day and restarting the game we have not had any issues, though we are purposely avoiding using any automation like sprinklers auto chest . Ect on the farm as that seems to be causing errors and problems as well for others.
Ah, I see! Just to confirm, do you think the end-of-day crash is connected to any auto machines? Does it seem to happen more often when you use them?
Or is it related to an entirely different issue? 😲
No. Thought it could be the same outcome that causes the crash between the two. Automation seems to be causing Crashing Errors mid day, and from what I have seen and others are reporting it seems like de-sync between the host and the client(s) is happening. Because the game has no way to deal with De-sync the game crashes to home screen. It is possible that de-sync is happening at end of day to and causing it to crash to home screen, and that would explain why the Error pop up is the same between the two. If that is the case, then the game needs a failsafe that is able to catch the de-sync, pause the host and clients games to alow everyone to catch up and re-sync. That would be a more annoying and less user-friendly way to solve the problem but it would work as a final failsafe to prevent crashing and it could be set up to handle full disconnections as well, plus you could have the game force a log collection at the time of this event to get a better understanding of the issue.
today im having this issue when i tried to log in to my multiplayer server as a host and this thing pops up, my internet connection is fine, tried reopen the game multiple time and still having this issue. window 11 pro
last time playing was around 1:12am utc+7 and now is 4:53pm utc+7
i left the server after finished the day and went to sleep just to open now and having the issue ;w;
Hi hiii! Is this still happening on your side? If yes, could you also check your Steam friends list and see if it shows how many friends are currently online? Just want to confirm something on our end.
And really sorry about this! We know how frustrating it can be when you’re excited to keep playing and this happens
no its fixed already! with sync time on my pc❤️
