#Lagging after 1.2 update

Hi team, my game updated today and now my game is lagging so bad it makes me nauseous to look at the screen (like when playing VR). My partner tried messing around with the settings but to no avail. My PC is not an advanced one but the game ran perfectly smoothly before the update.

It feels warbled and out of sync. I don't know my computer specs but does anyone have a reccomendation on how to fashion the settings to improve?

P.S. sorry to join the discord just to report a complaint, please know I love this game!!

Hi @quaint trellis , thanks for reaching out to us!

If you don’t mind, could you let us know if you’re playing the game on Steam? Also, if possible, could you record a short gameplay to show the issue? It would be really helpful for us to take a closer look and investigate further. We appreciate your help!

Thank you for sharing the video! To help us gather all the necessary details, could you please send another video that includes the FPS (frames per second) counter?

You can enable this through Steam by going to Steam > Settings > In-Game, then selecting your preferred position from the In-game FPS counter dropdown menu. For better visibility, you can also enable the High contrast color option. We appreciate your help and look forward to your updated video!

I will do that tomorrow as I am going to sleep now. Thank you very much.

@hard vault Hi Shei, here is the video with FPS displayed in the top left corner. This video is taken with the in-game FPS settings set to "No Limit." It runs a bit better at 30, but it's still not smooth like it was before the update. Thank you.

Just commenting to mention that I am also getting this kind of lag after the update now, and it gets worse for me when I'm near the farmhouse personally. So Roman isn't alone on this haha

Looks like the FPS is really low. I have the same in game settings as before the update, I tried to play around and lower them but that didn't make a difference.

I'm also having the lag and now some of the mini games are next to unplayable because of it

I’m also having that problem too

Hi everyone @willow apex @terse heron , I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue as well. Could you please let us know which version the problem first started occurring on your end? This information will help us investigate further, thanks in advance Duck_Saluting_Emoji

# hard vault Hi everyone <@665679445990047755> <@742392258065858621> , I’m sorry to hear that...

For me it's actually been happening since July 2024, so about 3 versions back, I believe. However, I am currently on the latest version of the game. I play with the steam version on windows 11.

I do want to point out that, when I briefly clean swapped to Linux, the lag went away completely (still steam+latest version of the game). I had to swap back to Windows 11 last week or so (clean install) and the lag immediately came back. So, I think maybe something in windows isn't playing nice with the game or vice versa?

I’m not quite sure because I stopped playing the game since July-August. My game was always the latest version while playing it. When I came back my game was really laggy even though I adjusted the quality settings to the lowest. It’s always laggy in front of my house (where the machines were) and very very laggy at the beach, I couldn’t even walk smoothly. But when it cuts to the cutscene it was totally fine.

I did not play until recently so I can't compare to before patch, and I am playing on **PS5 ** but this matches what I am experiencing.

When I first load into the game it feels smooth, but eventually it starts to get jerky and nauseating as well. It has completely put me off playing because it starts to cause headaches.

I basically would resort to playing one day, quitting after the daily save and restarting the game in order to smooth it out again.

Hi everyone, thank you for providing us with some details @willow apex @terse heron @sharp olive . If you could replicate the lag, could you record it and send it here so we can further review the issue?

Not sure if I'll be able to get one here from my PS5 but I'll try. I can tell you what it feels and looks like is a problem getting assets streamed in fast enough which is causing continuous hitching that just gets worse. I notice the more it goes on the more I notice assets on screen suddenly popping in later than they should.

I would not take this is an absolute fact, but I got suspicious that after the museum got expanded is when it started getting worse. Loading into the museum at all takes a very long time now compared to early on in the game as more and more items get donated.

No there's no specific locations as far as the hitching is concerned. It is, however, much more significant during snow I found (I was not in winter yet the first time I posted here)
