#"No Internet Connection" PC Xbox App Version on ROG Xbox Ally X

Yesterday I got my brand new Asus ROG XBOX Ally X Handheld Windows 11 PC. I Installed the PC Version (Play Anywhere) from the Xbox App.
When I start the game and Click on "Co Op" in the Main Menu, I get an Error Message: "No Internet Connection" but I am Connected.
There's no Error Code, only the Message.
I couldn't find any logs, don't know where the Xbox Launchers saves them.

I reinstalled multiple times, tried through wlan and Lan, tried with my user and with my wife's. Turned off Firewall and Defender for testing purposes. Even reinstalled the Xbox App and gaming Services. But couldn't find a solution.

When I start the cloud version of the Game via Xbox Cloud, there's no Problem. Also singleplayer Works. It only affect Multiplayer.

Game Version is the latest: 1.2.4 1240

My partner is having this exact same issue with her Xbox Rog Ally. We hope there's a solution. 🙁

Hello @chilly dock @primal steppe,
Thanks for the detailed info — that really helps!

Since both Singleplayer and the Cloud version are working fine, it seems the issue might be with how the Xbox App is connecting to the multiplayer service on your device. Could you please try these steps:

1.Check your Xbox Networking status:

  • Go to Windows Settings → Gaming → Xbox Networking
  • Wait a few moments while it runs the test
  • Make sure it shows Connected and Teredo: Qualified

2.Re-sign into the Xbox App:

  • Sign out from both the Xbox App and the Microsoft Store
  • Then relaunch and sign back in with the same account

After that, please try launching the game again and see if Co-Op connects properly. Let us know how it goes! 🙌

Hi @tender nebula , unfortunately that did not fix the issue and we're still experiencing the same result - "No internet connection".

Same for me.
The 1. Point, XBox Network Check isn't possible anymore, the cut the feature in windows 11.
I relog many times, didn't help.
Also just installed the new update, it's V 1.2-1241 now, but same problem

wavechicken I'm having the same issue with my Xbox ROG Ally X.
Followed the suggested troubleshooting and it didn't work for me, even after the most recent update to the game. Luwak_Sad_Emoji

@chilly dock How are you launching the cloud version on your ROG? Anytime I press play, it loads the installed version of the game.

Hey everyone! Thanks again for the updates and for testing those steps. Butter_Saranghae_Emoji

Could you also please try connecting your ROG Ally X to a mobile hotspot (just temporarily) and see if you still get the “No Internet Connection” message when entering Co-Op? This will help us check if the issue might be related to the current network setup.

Also, just to confirm — do you currently have an Xbox Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate subscription active?
Multiplayer features on the Xbox App require one of those subscriptions to connect online. Llama_Saranghae_Emoji

Thanks a bunch for helping us narrow this down!

Hi same problem here, I have ultimate and tried connecting over hotspot and still it says no internet connection

chilly dock
#

Yeah same for me, ultimate is running till 2027, Hotspot don't change at all

#

Is there some way we could open a console and see logging when we try it?
So that way we maybe could help you get more information?

Same issue on an older Asus ROG Ally. Have ultimate and tried at home, at work, and on hotspot. All shows the same no internet connection just on multiplayer. Uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times and tried signing in and out too.

Hi everyone! Thank you for the confirmation. 🙏

  • Could you let us know if you were hosting the session or joining another player’s game?
  • What platform is the other player using?
  • Could you confirm whether Cross-play is enabled or disabled in both your and your friend’s settings?

You can check it by going to Settings → Multiplayer → Enable Cross-play.

If you get a chance to play again, could you also share a short video (a phone recording is totally fine!) showing what happens when you try to play Multiplayer and the prompt appears?

This will really help us understand your situation better.
Thanks a bunch for your help! 💛

Could not host or join. Please see attached video. As soon as you click multiplayer you get the internet error.

I am able to play Gears of War 4 (non cloud) just fine. Able to connect to players and play Horde mode.

Hi guys I'm still having the same issue, has there been a work around yet? All other games work fine, it seems like its not even attempting to connect to the server, like it thinks I'm not connected to the internet at all

Hello everyone,
Thank you so much for your confirmation, and I’m really sorry for the delay in getting back to you. 🙇‍♀️

The team is still actively investigating this issue, and we truly appreciate your patience while we work on it.

To help us better pinpoint the cause, could you please let us know:

  • Was multiplayer working normally for you before the 1240 patch?
  • Do you recall if multiplayer worked fine when we first launched it in version 1238?

Your input would be incredibly helpful. Thank you again for your support and understanding! 🙏

I am having this exact same issue also on the rog ally. I have tried hotspot, Ethernet through an adapter, uninstall and reinstall and all of the above mentioned steps. I can play other games online with Xbox, just not this one.

This is an issue that just started for me last night. I have been playing multiplayer swapping between the rog and my Xbox pretty seamlessly since multiplayer was added and aside from a few bugs with xbox's quick start (which I found a way around), have not had any issues until about last night. I played once after the most recent update on my ROG I thiiiink? But I'm not 100% and then went back to playing on the Xbox. When I went back to the rog last night, this was happening.

I have heard some people have had trouble with connecting to the arc raiders servers specifically on the rog ally, they had to mess around and uninstall windows xbox game services and launch the xbox game app then they could connect, I'm not sure if its related but sounds like a specific xbox rog ally setting is blocking the ability of some games to see an online connection, purely speculation on my behalf though

I got it to work finally. It's definitely an Xbox problem on the ROG.

If you go to: Microsoft store>Xbox app click on the three dots on the bar and click "more info". It should go to the store page for it. There should be an "update" button next to the "open" button. If it's not there right away, I had to wait a whole minute for it to refresh. Once it's updated, it should work.

When I opened the Xbox app yesterday, it also pushed an update, so I had assumed it was up to date and put off trying this solution. Somehow, that wasn't the update. So. Don't make assumptions lol 😅

There are two other things that worked for others as well, so if anyone is still having issues let me know and I can send those over too. 🙂

That unfortunately did not work for me, I even uninstalled the xbox app and re downloaded, would love to know the other methods to try, thank you

There's also no update for me, the app says last update was on October 21

2511.1001.00 is the version as of last night while it was working. I did just open it to check for the version number, and it's asking for an update again but I'm not gunna mess with that right now.

I also uninstalled the 'game services' app before updating Xbox, as per other suggestions, so maybe that was what did it?

Hey @here! 👋

Sorry for the tag, but we just need a quick check from you all. Could you please confirm your current game version?

Our latest update is v1.2-1243, so you should see that number below the Exit button on the main menu.

Please drop your version number here so we can update the team. Thanks a bunch for the help! 💪

Hi guys I have a solution that worked for me after uninstalling all xbox apps and re downloading nothing worked, but I joined the xbox insider program and joined the pc gaming preview and that pushed an update to the gaming services app and that worked. This is the version that works

sturdy urchin
#

Yeah so here are the steps I took. I made sure to try and restart/test as frequently as possible to make sure I knew what worked.

First tried normal trouble shooting mentioned above: uninstall and reinstall, try different Internet options, etc.

I then made sure to check for an update for any of the ally specific stuff as it seemed like maybe it was a reading error on their end. I did find out I was like two updates behind, tried in between both of those and it still wouldn't load.

After seeing wilkat mention arcraiders, I ran through their subreddit and found a lot of other people with ROGs with the same issue and tried a variety of things mentioned there.

First, I uninstalled the Xbox app. At first I believed that it would also uninstall the other apps used for Xbox but it did not. Reinstalling it did not trigger any updates or anything, but the game did not work.

Then, I uninstalled 'gaming services' ((settings>apps>"gaming services">uninstall)). Opened Xbox and loaded the game, no luck.

Went back to settings>apps> xbox, clicked the three dots for "advanced options" then scrolled and hit 'repair'. No luck there.

Someone mentioned the insider program on one of the subreddits as well. I joined also and it didn't work after for me. I ended up putting the system down for a while bc I was irritated and then someone mentioned that they weren't getting prompts for updates, so I went to the Microsoft store for search for updates and when I did is when the update popped up that finally made it work.

It is possible that some combination of things made it work for me - I just updated to the most recent version of the Xbox app and I can still access it. So whether that's a gaming preview update or a normal one, I'm not sure though.

Can also confirm: got a new update for the Xbox app today (no insider) and now it work's

So seems like it was a MS Xbox App related bug

Hello @primal steppe @fossil sedge @heady patio, sorry to ping you here.

A few players mentioned that after updating their Xbox App, they were able to play again.

Have you had the chance to try updating the Xbox App on your device too, and see if you can play co-op now? 😮

heady patio
#

Mine is Version 32.107.3004.0 😮

I would also like to note, You can play the game via the Cloud Gaming option. It's when you install it to the device is when it has the Networking Error.

(I guess I forgot to hit send on this earlier this week.)

Will look for update on Xbox app and see if that resolves the issue.
