Hi,
I discovered coral island 1+ year ago, bought it but never really played it, my girlfriend did that for me!
We heard that multiplayer and co-op was coming mid-august and last week we decided to give it a go, my gf playing on a steam deck and I on my pc, but I rather enjoy playing it with her on the couch.
The question is simple, if I buy the game on my PS5 (or a subscription which gives me the game for the time i'm sub), can I play with her (with cross-platform ofc, i'd say yes) but can I use the same character I created while I was playing on pc?
Thanks for your help!

no, there is cross-play multiplayer in a sense that you can play with people on different devices.
But there is no cross-platform saves, meaning that all saves even if multiplayer are tied to the device.
Example, if your girlfriend the host invites you to the game that you play, you will be added as a new player with all your progress tied to your old player on steam.
But if you're the host, then you both would need to restart, since your host save is on steam and can't be transferred to other platforms.
Yup she's the host so I'll have to join her, so if I understand correctly, it's possible to cross-play but i'll have to start over my character (+mastery points + inventory + relationships with the npc etc..)
Yeah so i guess i'll stay on pc for now, will see maybe for the next run i'll switch to PS5, thank you!
Yeah, you would be starting over, because the game wouldn't be able to recognise you as the same player from PC as from PS5. And therefore it would start the process of creating a new player
