#Game shuts down my computer

Hi! Coral Island keeps shutting down my entire computer randomly.

Reproduction Steps: this happens randomly. There is nothing leading up to this happening and it can happen at any time of the day, doing different things in the game and at any location in the game. I dont get any bluescreen or errorcode. The game feezes along with other applications before shutting down the computer entirely. The computer turns on by itself after a few seconds. This only happens with Coral Island, no other game has caused this issue. There is no over-heating and my computer should be strong enough to handle the game. Drivers are up to date

Repro Rate: it happens every ingame-day or every other ingame-day

Game Platform: xbox pc

Game Version: v1.2-1239

Input Mode: Keyboard and mouse

PC and GPU specs details: GPU: Intel(R) Arc(TM) B580 Graphics.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Socket-AM4, 6-Core, 12-Thread, 3.7/4.6GHz, 65W, 7nm

Crash log: i could not find any crash logs.

Attachment: i cant record this or take pictures because the computer shuts down and closes all applications.

Hey @ember pawn,
Sorry about the crash, and thanks a bunch for reporting it! 🙏

Did you receive a window pop-up from Unreal Engine when the issue happened?
Also, could you share a screenshot of your in-game Display Settings with us?

Hi hi. Thank you for following our suggestion. Because the game crashes without any crash log, it likely points to the graphics driver or power-management layer.

Could you try forcing the game to use DirectX 11, which sometimes improves stability:

  • In Steam, right-click Coral Island → Properties.
  • Under General, find Launch Options and type: -dx11
  • Close the window, restart Steam, and launch the game.

Hopefully these steps help stop the crashes—thank you for giving them a try!

# ember pawn I have the game on xbox pc. How do i do that in xbox app on pc?

Ahh my bad, I missed that you’re on Xbox PC Game Pass, not Steam. Thanks for pointing that out!

Could you try a couple of Xbox-app-specific steps instead:

• Verify/Repair the game files:
Open the Xbox app → right-click Coral Island → Manage → Files → Verify and Repair.

• Reset the app cache:
Open Settings → Apps → Apps & features → Xbox app → Advanced options → Repair (or Reset if needed).

• Make sure your Graphics drivers and Windows updates are fully up to date.

Thanks again for helping us investigate!

Hi, Lisa. Sorry for the late follow-up—we needed to review this with the team and just got back from the weekend. I totally understand how frustrating this is and I’m sorry you’re running into it. 🙇‍♀️

To help us dig deeper, could you share a bit more info?
• Are you on Windows 10 or Windows 11 (you can check by pressing Win + R, typing winver, and hitting Enter).
• Have you tried setting Coral Island to run in High performance so it always uses your Intel Arc GPU?

You can go to Settings → System → Display → Graphics → find/add CoralIsland.exe → Options → High performance → Save.

If the issue still happens, would it be possible to record a short clip of what you see just before the PC shuts down—even with a phone camera? Since we can’t reproduce this on our end, a video would really help us understand what’s going on.

Thanks so much for your patience. 🙏

windows 11, yes i have set the game to run on high performance already and it doesnt fix anything. there is nothing special going on before the computer shuts down like i said before so i dont see that a video is neccesary. all applications, sound and video freezes and then the screen turns black because the computer shuts off. when it restarts all applications have been closed.

Ahh, I see. Thanks for all the info so far.

Another thing that can help is doing a fresh install on a different drive, if you have one available.
Sometimes, the default Xbox/WindowsApps folder or a particular disk can cause issues that a simple reinstall on the same drive won’t fix.

How to do it:

  • Open the Xbox app → click your profile icon → Settings → General.
  • Under Game install options, pick a different drive with enough free space.
  • Uninstall Coral Island, restart your PC, then reinstall it to that new location.

This can rule out disk-related problems and gives the game a completely clean folder to work with.

If the shutdown still happens after that, please let us know. 🙏

I only have one drive

Ahh, I see. Thanks again for sticking with us while we troubleshoot 🙏 Since there’s only one drive available, could you please try doing a full reinstall of the game on that drive?

How to reinstall:

  • Open the Xbox app → right-click Coral Island → Uninstall
  • After it’s removed, restart your PC
  • Reinstall the game from the Xbox app and try launching again

This will refresh all the game files and shader caches. Hopefully this helps clear things up! 🙌

I have tried that already

Got it. We’re really sorry to hear the issue is still happening 😞

Since the problem persists, the team needs to gather a bit more info so they can investigate deeper:

Windows Event Viewer

  • Right after a shutdown/restart, open the Start menu → type Event Viewer.
  • Go to Windows Logs → System.
  • Look for any Critical or Error messages around the exact time of the crash (often listed as Kernel-Power (Event ID 41) or Display/Driver errors).
  • A screenshot of that would be super helpful.

Intel Arc Driver Version

  • Open Intel Arc Control → Settings → System Info and let us know the driver version you’re on.

Power Info

  • Since you’re on a laptop, could you confirm if you’re running on charger only, battery, or both when the crash happens?

I know this is asking a lot, but these details will help us understand whether the crash is coming from the driver, power delivery, or something else. Thank you so much for your patience while we keep digging. goatlove2
