#PC Game Freeze (often)

Been having freezing issues pretty often. Game will just completely freeze up, can move mouse or anything. Ctrl-Alt-Del >> task manager just takes me to black screen. Have to restart PC.

Seems to happen randomly, only if I don't complete restart the game between each in-game day (but that is annoying to have to do)...

Was happening about every 2 or 3 in-game days. Saw suggestion to use option -dx11 on startup. Since then I've played 3 or 4 days a couple times without issue, but it locked up tonight once again during in-game day 3 of playing.

Playing on PC via Steam newest patch (I believe 1.2.1239) downloaded Aug 28th.

Input Keyboard/Mouse.

No crash log, as game just locks up and requires restart.

Attached is system specs and latest save file. Have last 10min of recording saved but is over 1gb and cannot be attached.

Xeon 3.7 ghz, RTX super 8gb dedicated card, 128gb (32x4) physical ram.

Hello @dense field,
Thanks so much for taking the time to report this, and I’m really sorry you’re running into the issue. We’ve seen a similar report and are still gathering more data.

Could you share a screenshot of your in-game Display settings with us?

Also, have you had a chance to update your graphics card drivers and verify the game files to see if that helps? You can verify the files by going to Steam Library → right-click Coral Island → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files.

Your info will be a big help for the team, thank you!

Hello,

Thanks for responding and working on this issue.

First thing we tried/verified was that we had most up to date "game ready" Nvidia drivers.

We have ran the steam "verify game files" and it came back with 471 game files verified.

Images of display settings attached.

Thanks again

Hello,

I should add, we've also tried other settings...
While these are the ones "Optimal" by Nvidia - we have also tried using the settings from their dashboard to use other settings.

Basically we just pushed it one notch towards "performance" instead of "quality" - doing so changed everything that is "Epic" to "Ultra" and changed everything already "Ultra" to "High".

Still had this freezing issue with those settings to. So went back to their "Optimal" settings.

Thanks again

Hello again,

Just full on crashed today. Was just running around town, I think I was running down the stairs to the right of Sams store coming from Lab.

For first time, didn't just lock up - actually crashed and showed crash log. I sent it in but also attched is copy and paste of text shown.

Hope that helps

Should have mentioned, I believe this was on Day 3 of gameplay since last time my PC was reboot.

Hello ThunderButt, I’m so sorry I missed your earlier reply 🙇‍♀️
Thank you for sharing the details and keeping us updated!

Could you please try setting Coral Island to use your High-Performance graphics card:

  1. Type Graphics Settings in the Windows Start menu.
  2. Click Desktop App.
  3. Add or select the Coral Island application.
  4. Click Options → choose High Performance → Save.

Also, to help us investigate the crash further:
• What in-game date were you on when the crash occurred?
• Could you send us your SaveGames folder?
– Copy and paste this path into File Explorer:

%LocalAppData%\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames

– Then zip the folder and share it with us.

Thanks so much for your patience while we dig into this! 🙌

Hello,

Changes made, and here is zip file.
Sorry not sure how many in-game days ago it was or exact date.

#

I think it was 2-6 in-game days prior to whatever date is on this save file...

Thanks again

#

I should add, in case it helps - the day I had to play over was the day I started to build the underwater barn...

Hello,
I went back to logging out restarting my entire PC every 2 days for now. So no, no lock ups or crashes if I only play 1 or 2 days at a time... Just really annoying to have to do that, end up normally giving up and playing something elese after 1 or 2 reboots...
Thanks
