Co op crashing on Xbox when trying to join a hosted game

Every single time my fiance and I try to join each other’s hosted game, the whole game crashes. We are both on Xbox Series S. We have both made new co op worlds, invited the other, then when we get to the screen to make a new character, it crashes while the loading icon is down at the bottom. We do not click anything or move left or right, still crashes. It does let the host create a new character and world, and load into the world fine. We have both tried it with cross play on and off, and it still does it each way. Restarting the game and our Xboxes have not helped. Version 1.2-1239 both using controllers. I tried to record what happens, but it cut off a few seconds before it actually crashed.

I have had the same issues since the 1.2 launch. Multiplayer just isn’t playable at all on Xbox. I do not know how it works for some people but every time I try the same crash as this post happens. It getting really frustrating seeing fixes to steam and PS5 when you can’t even play MP on Xbox. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Raised this issue a month ago when multiplayer was launched.

No luck and every time I ask if a fix is coming I get a very vague: “Consoles are slow to update” - an actual message and update addressing this gamebreaking issue would be great.

Yes, PLEASE. Literally ANY kind of actual information outside of "the team is aware and we're working on it" would be greatly appreciated for like, ANY of the game breaking bugs going on right now.

I get that it's a small dev team, I get that these things take time, but when you're constantly seeing the dev update channel listing things like "working on mini games for the community center!" or "fixed Townie Name's gym outfits!" while you can't even play the game is both disheartening and incredibly frustrating.
