Golden Egg and Milk

My husband and I ate playing a multiplayer together and having a hard time getting our festival winning chicken and cow to produce the regular size golden products; the golden egg and golden milk.

We have tried the method to stop feeding them until they were in a bad mood for a few days, but when we started feeding them again, we kept getting the large products again. Is there a specific length of time they need to be in a bad mood or are there any other ways for us to get the regular size products?

You have to feed them or they won't produce. You have to not pet them, and not let them out. Basically, set up a torture barn. Eventually you'll get the small size products

I usually set up a barn/coop with the autofeeder and auto harvester and then just ignore it for a season or two

yeah, you have to feed them
