#Save File Corrupted on Co-Op

TLDR: Co-Op save has been corrupted on the host's game after switching from playing on a Legion to PC (both on the Xbox PC app). Now the game crashes every time he tries to open the world.

Hello! My husband is hosting a coral island world on the game on the Xbox app on his computer. We have been playing for a long while and just made it to the second week of Summer year 1. During this time, my husband has hosted the game on both his computer where it started and on his Legion handheld.
Yesterday, he tried to log into the game on the computer again but it says that the cloud save file wasn't syncing on the other device. He tried restarting both devices to get it to sync and even tried playing on Cloud Gaming on the Xbox app. Then, the game crashed and when he booted it back up he got an alert that the save file was corrupted. It set us back to the first day of Summer in the game (according to the Co-Op main menu).
We didn't feel like starting that many days over yesterday and went to bed. Today, we were going to go ahead and play from Summer 1 and not try to recover the save file. However, the game crashes when he tried to load it up. It seems our whole game is lost 🙁
We tried a fix where we turn on Show Backup in the settings, but there's not toggle button to show backups in the co-op menu (just single player).
We are super bummed about this and had been having lots of fun. We really don't want to have to start over at this point. Is there any help for this issue?

Save file are located typically in C:\Users(CURRENT USER)\AppData\Local\ProjectCoral\Saved\SaveGames

From there, there is the back up folder. That is where the back up save files are. You can copy and paste the files to SaveGames location and rename them DailySave_#.sav. The # is replaced with a number that is available.

He’s working through this method right now, not sure if it will work for us yet, but wanted to share what is happening when he tried to open the farm each time. He either gets a black screen and it never comes up, or he gets the loading in world screen but that freezes and nothing pops up.

Well we were able to find all the save files, but none of them are letting us load into a game 🙁

I would save the files in a separate folder. Im not sure why it is not loading. I tried selling, harvesting, fishing, talking, sleeping, etc. Seem to work

It’s just this screen, and the little logo on the bottom right doesn’t move/change. then the game crashes

How does saving in a different folder work?

Oh I mean because we're messing with the save folder it is nice to have a copy so if we mess up anything in the actual save folder, we have more copies

Well that is very very disappointing...they removed coral island from xbox game pass...

I saw this get posted in general so maybe it is because coral island is not in xbox game pass anymore?

If you did make a back up copy of all the saves, you could maybe try reinstalling

Oh, no we purchased the game after the update. He did try reinstalling yesterday, but we can try again now that we know which file is the one we need

Reinstalling didn’t work either, so we’re thinking maybe I can run the game and host instead. I have the game on steam as well. Just trying to find my save files on my computer now

Save the file as DailySave_#.sav where # is replaced with a actual number that is free
Ex: DailySave_14.sav

This will work for now!! We’ll keep trying to find a fix for his, but at least we’re on the farm. Thanks!!

I was able to host instead on coop for the both of us by adding our farm save file to my files. I’m playing as his character so we’ll want to switch back eventually somehow, but we think it has to do with the Xbox launcher or something so we’ll keep playing around with it

The save is tied to the host so while you can play, I don't think other people can join. I tried editing to see if I could make you or me host to test but I got stuck in infinite loading time in Coop menu. Editing who's host I think is considered modding so dev might not support if anything go wrong but I was just testing option.

Oh darn… we didn’t test with him joining yet… I guess it may not be solved then. Not sure, we’ll try some more tomorrow
