Impossible to pick up items on the ground

Since the update, i have this issue.
Many items (wood, sap, seed...) are on the ground but i can't collect them.

• Reproduction Steps : The items were not collected during the day and the next day they were stuck
• Repro rate: 3, 4 times
• Game Platform: PS5

I'm having the same issue:

Reproduction Steps: I can't pick up items off the ground if I leave an area and come back later. My inventory was full so I just left things there to pick up later since they don't despawn. When I go back the area the next day I can't pick them up. I didn't test it yet to see if I can go back the same day and pick them up.
Repro Rate: It keeps happening in different areas like the forest, ocean, my greenhouse. I slept and went back the next day and it was still there. I closed and the game and restarted. The Auto-harvesters didn't even pick up the fruit on the greenhouse floor despite them being able to do it in the pre-hotfix version

Hello, I just started playing this game on PS5 becasue it was part of PS+ Extra and i'm having a lot of fun with it

I was surprised when a patch rolled out a couple days ago, Version 1.002.017 After some searching I found notes on steam that seem to also apply to PS5, for example it fixed the thing where known prices didn't show up in the sale chest (which i hadn't even realized was an issue)

at any rate, I am also getting this bug now on PS5 after that last patch where there are items all over the place on my farm that are unable to be picked up even though i have inventory space available

these items also seem to persist across days, and don't clear upon reloading either. While they don't seem to prevent me from placing objects and such, it does create unpleasant visual clutter

Glass Stuck on Floor Edit: It has happened with some items I drop that are left there over night

Reproduction Steps: My Bamboo Net Small caught trash in the pond near my house. Since my inventory was full, I dropped a piece of glass to make space. I forgot about the glass and continued playing. When I came back another in-game day I couldn't pick it up anymore.

Failed to Fix the Issue: Fully closing the game/Steam/Computer, Hoeing the ground around and under it, Using my pickaxe on and around it, Holding another piece of glass while walking past it, Building objects on top of it then removing them with my pickaxe.

I just downloaded the game for the first time last night. I started having this issue but only a couple hours into the game…at first it would auto collect everything, but if I put something down, then go to sleep, the items are frozen.

If I put the items down and then immediately pick them up, it will work. If I put them down, then go to sleep, that pile can no longer be picked up.

In my experience once things like this get patched it’s usually either that the items will start to collect as they should from where they are or they just put it all in your inventory and say all fixed now! I’m sure there are other ways but I doubt it’ll be a restart to another world. No worries I’m sure they’ll get this fixed soon 🙂‍↕️

Just here to say I also have this issue. Now I do use mods but considering how many people experience this (also on Reddit people are complaining) I don't think this is the issue. Also wanted to add that for me at least it's not just if I leave items overnight. It also just happened when I cut down a tree and couldn't pick up any of the wood afterwards. Thank you so much for sharing your info about this issue, where items left floating on the ground before going to sleep may end up stuck the next day. The team is aware of this and is working on a fix.

In the meantime, here are a couple of workarounds you can try:

• Pick up any floating items before ending the day to prevent this from happening.
• If the issue has already occurred, you can reload your save from the day before and make sure to clear the items before sleeping.

For items left floating before the v1.2-1239 update, unfortunately, they’ll remain stuck until the fix is released.

We know this isn’t ideal and really appreciate your patience and understanding while we work on resolving it. TYSM! ✨

Heya, it's not just when items are left during the night. In some cases, they drop and immediately get stuck. I chopped a tree and straight away wasn't able to pick up the wood. Didn't have anything to do with sleeping or the next day.

I've run into this on the PC and using Steam as well. Say, for example, I'm diving and as I'm clearing trash. My inventory gets full so when some new item drops, it lays there on the ground. The next day (or whenever) I go back with a cleared inventory, even though I can see the item laying on the ground, it doesn't get picked up.

As of 09/07/2025 ~ I am still having this issue and am experiencing it all over the maps. From my farm, to the forest, the ocean, there are items getting stuck all over the ground. It is getting difficult to plant seeds on the farm sections because I cannot see beneath the clutter of some of the wood logs spread out.

Adding that trash collectors placed on ocean floor will pick up garbage, but leave behind other items typically dropped by garbage like scrap, wood, etc. Those items are then left on the floor until I go empty the trash collector, and I find I cannot pick them up.

This issue sounds like to have been fixed (check #📓coral-developer-diary for "floaties"), at least for items dropped before last hotfix (don't know about items dropped after and going to the next day)

It seems like it's fixed in the beta. I maxed out my backpack and left a bunch fruit on the greenhouse floor. I returned the next day and I was able to pick them up.

Currently in game v 1.2-1239. This issue is still happening for me as well. Meteorite hit my farm and broke a line of fencing and grasses overnight. The grasses (hay and weeds) and the broken fence posts are unable to be picked up. Because this occurred overnight, I was unable to "collect" the items before sleeping. I had this happen to a chopped tree on day 6 or 7 Spring of my current save and I am on day 25 of Summer and those items are still on the ground.

The fix is not in the live game yet. As the person above said the developers are aware and it seems like it will be fixed in the next hotfix/patch. We don't know when that will be released yet.

If you are currently testing this would you be OK to try the following?

• Drop an item
• Go to sleep
• Pick up the item (Should be successful)
• Load your save
• Try and pick up the item (Should not be successful if bug is still present)

I have found that you can still pick the item up after sleeping as long as I don't load my save.

I would test it myself but I haven't got Beta access

hey, i'm new here and just came in to report the same bug. as of today sept. 14, the bug still occurs every now and then. i play via steam/pc, single player, and while this has been happening to my save before the supposed bug fix for floaties, my old drops are still there... just floating. ie, this one single hay on the screenshot (1st photo) that i've had since the multiplayer update. as well as a lot of the ocean stuff like trash and kelps that are just floating as well. yesterday, i might've left my greenhouse unattended for too long, my SFH attachments got too full and dropped a lot of my crops on the ground and they could not be picked up as well. they just bugged out in there. i actually set this game down for a bit, because i'm pretty sure that as the game has to store the positions of more and more objects... a memory leak issue is inevitable... which could then brick a save if every time you load up it just crashes the game

I have the same problem. There is more and more wood lying around on my farm. I don't know if it's a visual bug or if it's wood that I haven't picked up yet. It doesn't happen all the time, so I want to keep playing anyway.
When a fix comes out, will everything that's lying around be automatically removed? I don't want to have to revert to an old save game.

I understand they want to ideally make sure all platforms get the hotfix at the same time. From what I'm reading here though, console updates are right now uncertain on a timeline. Is it not possible to at least update the pc?

If console certification is the sole reason, then I wonder if they could offer an "Early Access" branch for much needed updates like these on Steam that PC players could opt into; give a warning that saves can't be reverted back to a previous version and let it be that. Atp I wouldn't mind that at all, I know they're working on updating other stuff but this one bug is getting to be a bit much. A lot of other bugs are out the way, this one not so much

Yes, like that, but instead let us commit our saves to it at our own discretion. Maybe one that doesn't include as many changes, but for more important fixes like these that are ready for release where the only holdup is console certification

(pc only) Can confirm this actually works to remove the ghost items. You won't get the stuff back but it does clean up which I preferred. I'll play more later to see if it got rid of items that aren't just in a certain radius around the player, but I'd imagine you just retype the command again to remove 'em.

What a ridiculous way to approach a dev team that does respond to masses of inquiries a day. Why would you ask, "Are you being paid", because someone is standing up for basic courtesy of someone else? This team is wonderful and very hard working. Do you think others aren't frustrated? If you leave items on the ground overnight, you can't pick them up. That doesn't make the game broken. It's an inconvenience, and it's the reality of a game that is not in full release. Which, as another paying customer, I am fully aware of and accepting of the fact that I bought a product that still needs time and dedication to get to the end result. Just because you have a voice, and are mad about something, doesn't mean you should berate whoever can listen.

I want to add that this happened while using dynamite and I immediately went to pick the resources up. I am on PC and was doing MP with a bud. We cannot put any new buildings in the lower area because of this 🙁

Someone posted a mod fix above. Am out of town and on my steam deck at present, but will try it as soon as I get back. And for the console players, I hope they do a hot fix for it very soon…

Has there been a fix or update for PS5 on this?! I hope soon if not it’s driving crazy. My whole island is littered with stuff I can’t pickup because my pockets were full the first time and the day passed and since I didn’t pick them up they have stayed floating indefinitely 🥲

@agile yarrow started having the issue several days ago, after using dynamite on my farm, or the bomb in the water( does the same thing) trash & stuff left on ocean floor that cannot be pick up or removed...Fire Pit on the beach is no longer working as well...this has all happened after the multliplayer update. I 😭 have the steam version for PC....

Backup saves are a thing built-into the game as well. You can enable "show backup" in the game settings and when you load your save from the main menu and tick the checkbox "show backup" at the bottom left it will then give an option to load an older backup save. That's on PC anyways I'm not sure about other platforms

There’s still no way to fix this problem, right? I tried decorating my farm and found that the items that fall on the ground can’t be picked up. Even if it’s still the same in-game day, or after restarting the game and sleeping for several days, the items still don’t disappear and can’t be picked up. This problem happens across the whole map, not just on the farm.

The only fix right now is a mod, you can scroll up a bit to find the link to the post on Reddit. However, when using mods there is no support and the mod removes the items so you don't get them back. So basically, use at your own risk.

I noticed that the piles of wood lying on the ground are getting bigger and bigger...by themselves...that doesn't make any sense. I haven't cut down anything new that's nearby...

I was clearing my farm off trees and scraps but could not gather the loot despite having free space in my inventory. It is now permanently stuck in several areas with wood, scraps and tree seeds despite restarting the game several times - I am too far in to start a new game slot and seeing all the loot that I cannot clear with tools from previous days is the overwhelming. Please help! I have the PS4 version and am playing on PS5. I do not know how to find out what in-game date it was as I had been occasionally clearing the farm of trees
