Unable to collect chest and pet from mailbox

I made a second singleplayer save file to see if the redeem items are a one time thing, and it only let's me collect the outfit. I tried again this time clearing my inventory before trying to get it from the mail box but still the same result. The first save file I collected it just fine, so I don't know why this is happening. Any help would be appreciated.

they r not one time. tried reloading the game? some have slept and waited the next day and it worked

I tried closing the game and reloading, which didn't work, so I'll try redeeming it the next in game day
