Sister and I are playing on MP and after the Cherry Blossom Festival, we began to gain hearts with all of the townies rather easily. Talking to someone will usually make a heart appear and giving someone a flower bouquet on their birthday brought me from 1 heart to 6! Unsure if anyone else is experiencing this, but it has been going on for a few in game days now.

Hi @meager venture , thank you for reaching out to us! Could you let us know which platform the Host and the Guest are playing from (Steam PC/Deck, Xbox PC/S/X, PlayStation 5)? Does the issue happen to both the Host and Guest. or has it only been limited to one player?

Hey, I also appear to be having this issue. Playing on Steam, and since the cherry blossom festival, I(the host of the MP game) have been earning hearts really easily, but my friend who I am playing with is earning normally.

Would you say that the Host and the Guest interacts with townies as frequently? And could you share more details on what you usually do when interacting with townies?

The guest player actually interacts significantly more with the townsfolk than I do, and he's earning hearts much more slowly than I am!
I will occasionally talk to them and then earn a full heart with them from single interactions

Hi there! Sorry for the late reply! At the time of the posting my host was on PC and I was on PS5. However, this same issue has transferred to my PC solo game I am currently playing. After the Cherry Blossom festival and getting a delicious level hot pot, friends come very easy. Just from talking once or twice to a townie equals at least one heart gain. I am drowning in heart events and hangout events now after doing both Spring Festivals. I do not even give gifts to anyone.
