More Detail: Player 1 (host) didn't want a pet but I did. I got a pet bed and tried to adopt. Our town was at rank E. I got the message that I couldn't adopt any more pets. I got a pet house just in case, same message.
Player 1 went to adopt and could adopt just fine. After I still got the same exact message.
Before trying to adopt a pet I did buy some chickens. I wonder if that game is accidentally counting them as pets for me.
