Can't Trigger Tree Planting Festival for 2nd Player

Title
Only the host can trigger the tree festival. It does not work for the 2nd player during the 8am-2pm window. The 2nd player does get the "come back between 8am-2pm" message before 8am.

Reproduction Steps

1. Between 8am-2pm, the host walks up to the starting point fro the tree planting festival at the north exit of the farm and triggers the tree festival. The "waiting on other players 1/2" message appears.
2. The 2nd player walks up to the same starting point and nothing happens. No message of any type appears and the 2nd player cannot join the festival. The 2nd player can move behind the trigger point and walk around in areas not normally accessible during the festival.

Note: Changing the order of which player goes first produces the same results.

Update: Got it to work by standing next to the trigger point and starting the festival at 8am.

The only major thing that was done differently the 3rd time when it worked (other than timing) was that the 2nd player upgraded the fishing rod from basic to bronze. When doing this, we also encountered a bug where Sonny was invisible and his name did not appear when using the Beach Shack shop.
