Character Reset When Logging Back In

I joined a multiplayer game with someone and we played for a couple of days with no issues. We are in mid summer now and have closed the game multiple times with no issue when loading back in...until now. We took a couple hour break and when I loaded back into her game, my character has fully been reset. All the stats and appearance are like a brand new character. Also my upgraded tools, upgraded backpack are also missing. Please tell me there is a fix for this. We don't want to start over.

Also something to note, the new character started naked, had 0 energy and 0 health

Also something to note with this issue, since I had to create a new character and lost all of my previous progress, I did not get the recipe for the forge, even though I’m in the final mine. Only the host has the recipe.

Also, if you still have access to the reverted character, it would be really helpful if you could try playing with that character again and record the gameplay, just to see if it has any effect on the game. We had been playing like normal, logged off to take a break and get some food, logged back in and the character was reset. I don’t have access to the reverted character because it completely reset the appearance, levels, skills, any progress that was made. It was like I had a brand new character that had never played before. I also lost all of the recipes i had earned and not sure how to get them back. Example, I do not have the forge recipe and not sure if it’s possible to get it from somewhere now.

My internet went down, and when I came back to the game and loaded the save, my friend’s character had been deleted along with all of his upgraded tools. I managed to fix it by taking a backup save from an hour earlier and renaming it to something playable. The bug hasn’t happened again so far, but that’s the workaround we found.

But make sure to have a backup of all saved games before you do it

grab one of these saves from a date or time before the bug and copy it

then paste it here and rename it to "DailySave_#.sav"(a number in the #), and it will create a new save in your game

Same problem as well, also mid summer. I was clearing the farm and planting trees before this issue occurred.

sure, we had just released the dragon thing underwater and went to sleep on the last day of winter (did not attend the event) the bug happended the first of summer and did not fix til i pulled a save that was way back on winter 19th (not fall mb)

i deleted the messed up save after using a back up tho bc we went back so far and did things different

Ari experiences crashes at least once every time we play together

i think this is the fixed one -v and the other one is indeed gone the save i put earlier was not the correct save

and i went and backed the game saves thru steam this time so in case of another issues

Hello, I am @sonic raft 's husband and the host, I am on Xbox Series X, I don't think there is anyway I can send any of the files over that I know of.

I do feel like there is some issue with the quick resume functionablity on Xbox Series X so whenever I boot the game up I quit the game and relaunch it everytime otherwise other players get kicked a lot like there is something still in memory that prevents others from joining.

Beyond that @sonic raft was clearing the farm and I more than likely were going around fishing, its now been a few days and cannot remember what was happening.

Are there anyways to revert an Xbox save back as I hate to have to restart, really makes it hard to want to start this coop game over. Also have another one with other family but I am worried if this ever happens on that save too.

I can't remember exactly what we did because this issue happened from one day to another (meaning we didn't make a quick pause and returned later haha). But as far as I remember, we bought some strawberry seeds, fished, went to the cavern, took care of the animals. We also had two players waiting for the tool upgrade to be ready for silver (axe and scythe). I don't know if it's related, but the game crashed for the two clients when they tried to pick up the black truffle. And that's all I can remember

I was the host and the issue happened with only one of the clients. They both have experienced the crash, but it only happened with one of them

Hello, this happened to me too. I used to disconnect several times while playing, but the last time before it happened, I just picked up an upgraded sickle, and the game background went black and disconnected. When I logged back in and joined (a friend's save), my character became a boy and reset from the beginning.

I've tried several times, replacing the backup save from September 15th, but nothing changed.

We just did our garden routines like watering, and then we continued focusing on mining for 10 level (water giant... )but disconnected several times (Especially me). Then, because my friend (the host) was worried, she saved it for the next day.

When I reconnected the next day, I did my garden routines and waited for the blacksmith to open, and what I mentioned happened background went black and disconnected again.. when i rejoined it happen

My friend's do the same routine & character was fine, and it didn't reset.

Had same issue! Bummer - my husband and I are 90 days in game and we've made collective progress in multiplayer. Unfortunately when returning to the game (we are in fall after one impact event) my character avatar is now male and not me. My inventory is not upgraded and its defaulted to spring seeds even though I we are in fall and I had fall things. My husband is the host and we aren't sure whether to progress or not. My house has also been upgraded and its basically where it was when I arrived day 1 on Coral Island. Any tips of how we can get my progress back so we can continue playing? For reference, I am an asian presenting female in game. This guy looks nothing like me. lol.

My husband was the host on PS5 and I was on my steam deck. We just finished the day talking to cho oyu to get the mermaid turning quest. In the middle of the night we got an astro impact at the midnight. My game was acting buggy already where it kept disconnecting so not sure if that lended to the main issue. Worst case we restart and make my character again but I really want to keep my save. Any advice would be awesome! Thanks Stairway for all that you do. This game has been really nice to introduce to my husband so we can bond!

Specifically, was that moment when you submitted all the required items to complete the Starlet Expedition quest? Also, when you mentioned experiencing disconnections, did those happen during the cutscene or more generally throughout the in-game day? Happy to provide more detail. It was just when we got the quest. Had not submitted items yet. And the quest was the one where our player can turn into a mermaid not the others. We also got the underwater farm unlocked same day but we went to sleep on our regular farm. And disconnections throughout the in game day and always on my side

And sometimes I was unable to see the host's character but that happened sometimes and I would just hop back out and in. Regarding the disconnections, I got disconnected right before end of day so my husband when to bed without me but I logged back in for the summary of day so we could see how many coins we collected

This just happened in my friend multiplayer game today (9/29) on PS5 where my character reset and I cant get my character back. We had missed the Cherry Blossom festival (spring 10) and wanted to restart the day and when I came back it reset everything.

Hi @ruby cairn , I saw the info (from steam) that the character reset issue has been fixed... but I tried opening it with a friend earlier, and it's still the same...
The male character, progress reset... and energy and health are at 0

But we tried the next day...
The energy and health are back to max
But my character's progress is still at 0 and still male character's...
