After hitting the button to pick something up without being close enough to grab it while holding a consumable two separate times on or around the beach two separate times I was unable to open the menus for inventory, crafting, etc and unable to change my hotbar position and level and even switching controllers didn't fix it the first time only quitting to the title screen fixed it
I'm playing on the ps5 version 1.2-1238

I’ve had the same thing happen, I’ve noticed that if you press x and hit yes to eat it it should reset and you should be able to go back to normal
