Co-op play in X Box requires a Game Pass Subscription

X Box Series X. When I click on the Co-op button it directs me to the 3 x Game Pass subscription rates. Is this an X Box cash grab or what?? I do own a copy of the game.

for xbox, you must have xbox game pass, at least subscribe game pass core for online mode at any game except free to play like Roblox, Fortnite etc
