Title: like some other players, my chests are missing the sort button, my items all have ? on them when I have sold those items before and also for some reason my magnetism where crops / items are meant to be drawn to me after I for instance use the scythe are not working like I have to be stood on top of the item almost to get it to come to me (I was playing my save yesterday and none of this happened yesterday) also it feels like something is just off I know this doesn’t make much sense but I’m reflexively clicking buttons like the r1 and nothing is happening or the sounds feel like some are missing etc (I have been playing coral island basically every day for multiple hours so it’s not me getting mixed up with another game)

Reproduction Steps: opening chests, selling items, scything or using any action that drops items that need to be drawn towards my player

Repro Rate: every time since 1.2

Game Platform: PlayStation 5

Game Version: Build Version: v1.2-1238 (I have over 142 hours in this save please tell me that I haven’t lost stuff because I saved the day just now 😢)

Input Mode: Controller

Your save file: on PlayStation but looks exactly like the other persons chest etc screenshots from the bug channel on discord and I don’t know if you can see the hay in the one photo but I scythed that and the times I did it with crops they were a lot closer and not pulling towards me

Same issue with the items colletting. Even with the ring i have to stay really close to pick up items. I play on steam

I am on Steam with mouse and keyboard build v1.2-1238 and I also have ? instead of sell value on items I have most definitely sold since I updated the game as well as items I have sold prior to today's update.

I'm also experiencing:

  • no prices on all items even after selling again.
  • missing auto-sort checkbox on chests
  • loot pickup range has been drastically reduced

As for the auto collector @near sun @cedar valve , could you confirm how many items do you have in the collector and could you record a video when it started to collect the crops?

I have to agree with TGD here. I definitely understand why it's necessary for multiplayer, but I don't ever really intend on playing anything except single player (none of my friends play CI). I don't think an MP design should influence single player modes, especially when it actually detracts and makes things more difficult and frustrating for single players. It's currently making my mine runs on my new save a lot more frustrating because I constantly have to double-back to retrieve the drops that would have probably gotten picked up before the update, but are now unable to because of the reduce magnetism.

This is really disappointing to hear, as it really slows down the flow of the game in single player. Would it be possible to introduce a toggle in the settings so players who wish to reset it to the way it was before are able to do so? It's really frustrating to constantly have to double back to pick things up, and I can imagine that mining with explosives is going to be really annoying with the decreased magnetism...

That isn't logical. You changed single player design to match multiplayer? Also, it's not just changed the radius of pulling stuff in, if I move away even a smidge, from say, pick axing a stone, it won't get sucked into my inventory and I have to run back over to it. Just throws off the flow to where it becomes janky feeling and no longer smooth. Completely ruining my gameplay. So if you guys have no plans of fixing that, let us know.

I agree with all of the above. I understand the multiplayer thing. I too, do not play multiplayer, none of my friends play CI.
Can we stop catering to the MP crowd? Seriously? Every game is bending the knee to these groups. It was a great SINGLE player game. Everyone in chat is talking about the toggles for multiplayer input, why not have a toggle like someone posted above?
Maximum is right, this is not logical. When you hit a rock, or cut a tree and move before the animation of the rock bouncing or wood hitting the ground, it stays on the ground even though you are still within range of hitting a tree if it were in that same spot. In other words, my cut radius is currently bigger than the magnetism radius.
This is just dumb, dumb, dumb.

Also the no sale price for chest is really killing the fun out of the game for me no idea what anything is worth no clue what i've shipped before kinda wish we could go back to an old version of the game at this point.

I've got all the same issues (forced auto-sort, missing price, decreased magnetism) happening as well, playing on steam. The forced auto-sort is particularly annoying I find, but all of these issues make the gameplay experience significantly less smooth and instead turn it into quite a hassle.

Also as for the magnetism issue in particular, I have to agree with what the other people in this thread have already said. It doesn't make much sense to change singleplayer experiences for multiplayer purposes. Also, since it seems most people here are playing only singleplayer and I've actually been playing multiplayer, I'd like to point out that the reduced magnetism bothers me even there. Not only do I often have to walk/swim back to whatever item I was looting, but somehow half of the time when I'm playing with my friend she walks near where I was looting and my items end up in her inventory anyway, so it doesn't even serve its intended function that well. We typically get around this by just having a chest near the door that we drop eachothers' stuff in if we accidentally pick it up, but admittedly I think a better solution would be to bring back the level of magnetism to what it was before, as the reduced level doesn't seem to add much beside frustration at the moment, and add the option to drop items from your inventory (and/or an option to give items to another player directly). That way if someone does accidentally pick up the other's items they can just hand it back over immediately.

I experience these issues as well, and to me, the magnetism issue is the worst of them. Others have made the arguments better than I would be able to, so I'm going to keep it simple. The magnetism change detracts from my enjoyment of the game, and feels like a clear downgrade from the previous version.

To add to my above comment about the magnetism, the issue also affects the auto SFH on all 3 sprinkler sizes (I’m guessing that the magnetism that brings items to the player inventory is maybe similar to the code used for auto SFH?).

Sprinkler lvl 1 with auto SFH only picks up around half of the crops. For sprinkler 2 and 3 it leaves crops on the ground around the outside perimeter of the area. Using fences doesn’t make any difference as someone suggested at the start of the thread. Please reset the magnetism to the previous state, it’s made the gameplay incredibly frustrating and it didn’t hold my interest at all while I was playing last night because I kept getting annoyed by the magnetism issues.

I'm sad to hear this. I understand that it's designed this way for multiplayer life, but as someone who is never going to play MP because no other people I know play CI, this is disappointing.
It's completely removed the flow of the game. And even for MP, if you're solo-ing e.g. the ocean, it's also removed to flow of it.

I hope we'll get a toggle to increase/decrease collection area or it'll get reverted back to how it was before.
Same as with the auto sorting in the chests.

I love the fact that we now have MP for those who wanted it and the other additions in this update, but the default auto-sort and decreased range is really hindering the way I love to play the game.

The low magnetism is a bit of a bummer, but the no sale price is definitely a killer. I'm on my last trophy to platinum the game and I'm already having a hard time tracking what else I'm missing. Now that everything is set to ? again I can't even remember what I still have left.

It doesn’t make sense for the updated magnet radius / speed to be intended design when it compromises the features of an item like SFH - it has become an auto harvester that can only auto harvest a certain amount.

I’ve put off ocean exploration and mining on the first day of 1.2 because movement flow is ruined. So much wasted time going back to pick up items or wait for them to get picked up. Extremely frustrating. I wanted to play more this weekend too but haven’t at all because I keep getting put off by this change. This has really killed the experience for me.

This change was brought about by a decision made to cater to multiplayer. It shouldn’t affect single player games. Multiplayer was never something I was looking forward to so having it affect my game feels really bad.

I want to continue playing the game because I love it but the change is way too frustrating. So I hope we’ll be heard here. I hope it gets rolled back really really soon.

I'm just gonna be echoing everyone else here but it makes no sense for the magnet effect to apply to single player files. If this is going to continue, please consider putting in a magnet ring or something similar to increase the range of picking things up. It is very frustrating to have to go back and pick things up that up until yesterday were pulled in with ease.

It seriously makes me want to roll back the update because the flow of the game is interrupted.

Hate to dog pile on here but it's necessary I feel. I have stopped playing for now because of how much the loot radius reduction has changed how I play. After hundreds of hours there's a lot of muscle memory at play. Please make this change so it's only active when a MP game is in session... there's no reason for it in single player.

I think it's necessary for as many people as possible to express dissatisfaction. The game is nearly unplayable for me at this point. My auto SFH isn't working. I have to run over things multiple times to pick them up. I'm constantly doubling back. Even if I was going to do multiplayer, it'd be with friends and we would easily get around these issues with some chests to get back our items. However, I'm not playing multiplayer anytime soon. I like a singleplayer game. I want this to be for me alone and this is incredibly frustrating. Not seeing prices is also extremely difficult. I'm just not seeing any upsides to this update so far and am only encountering downsides. There NEEDS to be a toggle function so that singleplayer games aren't ruined. If most of your player base plays alone, this is devastating for us.

I logged in for the first time in 6 months to see the update, harvested crops and definitely noticed the low mag issues, put items in storage and seeing the auto sort made me turn off the game 😭

Tried it, and honestly: I am not going to bother playing again until the collection range is fixed or modded.

Also having these issues on PC. Chests are all auto-sorted now, prices aren't showing up, and my auto-collectors are leaving crops floating in the corners of my fields.

Besides all the issues mentioned above, my harvested crops just disappeared. I was harvesting and in between my inventory got full. I got a notification for the full inventory but the plants are empty anyways, or gone (depends on the plant). Before the update I was just unable to harvest anything with a full inventory, now crops just vanish into thin air. Does this happen to anyone else? Playing on Steam.

It's not really efficient to push out hotfixes for one issue at a time when there are quite a few things they are working on fixing and some of those things seem to overlap. There is also a double delay for console players since their patches need to be approved by the console makers before they are released to the public, so just continuously pushing out small hotfixes for multiple problems is inefficient and can cause backlogs for other games as well.

In most cases, yes—but not in this one. The core premise of the game revolves around selling items, which is fundamental to this type of gameplay. It’s surprising that such a critical feature went live in its current state, as this is something that should have been noticeable on day one. This suggests the developers were likely aware of the issue and chose to address it later. If that’s not the case, it raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of their quality assurance process

I get that they are currently working on fixing many of these bugs and will probably/hopefully release a fix in the coming week (they mentioned they'd work paid overtime the previous and coming week), but I really wish they could have quickly pushed a tiny update for a couple of bugs that affect all players (SP and MP) every in-game day, such as the ? pricing in the shipping bin. I can understand that they might want to wait a bit with the magnetism reversion to test and ensure balance, but the bin prices is just fetching a number and is already available when selling in stores.

I believe a lot of players have probably returned to play the new update (me included), and I personally think it feels iffy to lose existing QoL features and have to wait an unknown amount of time for it to be fixed and return to normal.

I also have the same issues and more. There is so much wrong with the game that I got 4 days in and was putting up with some of the issues just to play. The issues that made me stop playing and will wait till these things can be fixed. I realize that multiplayer was a big deal for some people but I think there is a quite a faction of players that play singly too, me and some of the others responding. The chest issues are huge and these alone make the game unemployable now. It cannot stay this way. However, when you cannot process things in machines either, that makes the game broken beyond playing. So when you get around to fixing everything you broke in the name of making the game available for multiplayer, you totally destroyed single player for the time being. Hopefully you can fix it so that we single players can enjoy what was a fun game too.

Has this been answered anywhere? It seems to have been over a week since anyone with any authority/access has said anything.

this channel #coral-beta-changelist claims these issues are fixed, but no patches have been pushed and we have no dates for when they will be.

Can we get an update please?

(I also don't understand the #coral-beta-changelist channel at all? As far as I can tell this game has no beta branch/PTS so I don't understand why there are video walkthroughs on how to change settings that don't exist? I'm so confused)tx

Thanks so much for your patience. Good news! The issue you reported has been fixed and is now live in v1.2-1239

This hotfix is out on all platforms, so make sure to update your game!
Here are the key fixes in this patch:

  • Price details now show up correctly after selling an item.
  • Bringing back the auto-sort toggle button.
  • Magnet issue in single player where you had to wait for the floatie to drop before it activated.
