Not really sure if this is a bug but, I'm online on Steam and got a good connection, so I am not sure why I cannot run the co-op mode.

Was also having this same issue, but also found other games were failing too. I can see via the server status pages and via the reddit that Steam servers are currently falling apart in general right now

I managed to make it work by reinstalling in a different drive.

Tried both - restarting os as well as reinstalling. Still the same issue. 🥲

Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. Another player mentioned they were able to fix the issue by:

  • Updating their drivers
  • Restarting their device
  • Making sure the Steam overlay is active
  • Running Steam as administrator

Could you give these steps a try as well? Hopefully one of them works for you too!
And if you do try them, please let us know what happened! 🙏

I wanted to add that I had the exact same issue. Spouse and I were playing with me as host, her as invitee. Mid day suddenly got the "offline" notification with both of us being kicked. We tried restarting and it told us that the "host" was disconnected (it gave me this warning while I was attempting to host the game?)

Eventually we fully restarted steam by completely turning off all of the background actions (Task manager) that steam runs. Once it restarted I got kicked one additional time before being able to host. Then during that day we were replaying my spouse got kicked just before sleeping but was able to rejoin at the next day.

Our speed tests are fine, no internet hiccups on our end, but we did note the game struggled to sync cloud files.

We both run windows 11, latest version of the game, playing on the same internet connection.

Edit: this happened about 6:10PM EST

Same here. As per screenshots, I hosted and played with another player (both PC). Randomly, we both got disconnected, and as the host, I was informed that "This game is currently running in offline mode. Would you like to sign in?".

Upon clicking "Sign In", it waits to connect for 8-10s before aborting with a "Connection Failed. Try again Later".

Will give Dinda's suggestion above a try.

I'm not sure if it will help as I can't really tell if this is related without knowing how the game logs in but I did notice something today. I loaded up Coral Island while I was finishing the day in the Better Mart game and got the offline mode message. Restart of the computer did fix the issue however later when I started up Better Mart while waiting for my friend to end the day so I could log off Better Mart got stuck trying to make a multiplayer session. I had to restart my computer to get that game to log in. I'm not sure if the two games use some similar method that is causing the issue due to a session being still open in one game vs the other but I wanted to share this tidbit in case it helps track down the source.

Unfortunately I am having this issue currently suddenly out of nowhere and nothing solves it. I tried switching internets and restarting Steam + PC and even uninstalling and reinstalling the game and nothing works.
All my drivers are updated

@sleek plinth this really is just disappointing not receiving any reply for so long, I know this is a small indie company and I am trying to be patient but it really doesnt make sense that such a high risk bug exists after release and is not being addressed and I work in software QA.

Had multiple opportunities where we wouldve liked to play the game and instead we spent it trying every suggested method that exists to fix the bug instead

Can‘t even refund the game anymore eventhough it‘s completely unplayable now
