#Can multiplayer play single from the start?

I currently have noone to play with me, but am I able to start a multiplayer game on my own and friend can join in whenever they want? or does it have to have multiple players right from the start?

Hi hi @sullen berry @halcyon cosmos want to clarify the information a bit here.

You can start multiplayer save file by yourself and then have your friend join later on, as long as there's spot in the save file!
