I don't know if it matters but the save I'm on is my very first save so it's from the ancient days lol. Not old old but like way before much of the romance for the mermaids were flushed out. Right now, my Semeru is stuck at 7 hearts, no matter how many times I've gifted him throughout the weeks it just stays at 7 and there's no heart event for me to attend. I'm only on year 2 and have had mermaids come onto land before for the festivals starting spring. I don't know if I'm just not patient or something but I swear I've been gifting him nonstop since the beginning of spring. (or at least from what I remember) currently getting back into coral island after a long break. It feels like the mermaids only ever say the same one or two lines for me, especially Semeru. The other mermaids right now currently are able to progress their hearts (gifted Denali on her birthday). So am I just tweaking or...?

I don't know how much hearts are supposed to go up for each gift, Ive given him 2 loved gifts this week so far too. Starting with 7 hearts and ended with 7 hearts

Semeru doesn't have a 7 heart event. You need 650 points to go from 7 hearts to 8 hearts, so it's going to take quite a while. What are you gifting and what is the quality of it?
It will take 5 weeks of giving 2 loved gifts to get up to level 8. (if you do none of the other stuff that raised friendship)
