If possible, please send us your save file so we can take a closer look.

I don't know the exact date, but it was a few days before the summer of year 1, on my Peony farm (since after that bug I created a second game to try to do some different things (like finishing the museum improvements first before starting to clean the ocean) and so see if that bug wouldn't repeat itself)
And thanks for responding so quickly. I was afraid that after the new update they announced, that bug would still be there. If you need any other files from my game, let me know.

Ahh, I see. When you got the cutscene on the Dock with Ling, did any quest pop up in your Journal?
Could you check if you have the "Into the Ocean" quest listed there? That’s the one that contains the Diving Suit.

Hi, not a dev. But I checked your save file and you have an advanced suit. Maybe you skipped the cutscene by accident or forgot about it, since it happens after clearing 5 sites in the ocean.
Also, I've noticed that you haven't made any offerings yet to the goddess, to go past the gate in the ocean you will need your advanced suit (that you have) and at least 1 offering bundle completed at the temple.

Hi, okay, but I don't think I have the advanced suit, or the advanced suit isn't doing its job haha, not only because Ling never actually showed up at my house to give me the suit, but because I still don't understand what the ocean animals are saying, which I'm supposed to be able to do with the 2.0 suit.
And yes, I know I didn't make an offering to the goddess, I didn't know it was used for that later on, I thought it was something more like unlocking improvements or something like that, like the junimos from Stardew Valley, since this is my first time playing this game, so I'm just learning about it.

Ling says that she will make a better suit for you. After 2 days you get a cutscene upon waking up at her lab. You can check your journal that there is advanced suit check.
Also, you're not supposed to understand animals right now. You will understand them after fully healing the ocean. The suit helps you later on after you clear the gate.
The game progresses by increasing your town rank - you can improve it:
- by healing the ocean
- making donations to the museum
- making offerings to the goddess
All 3 of these will count toward your town rank. the higher town rank - the more quests, more game progression.
You can do all of these at your own pace, just a forewarning that to move farther into the ocean you need to complete at least 1 offering bundle (essential resources is the easiest).

The explanation above is correct. The diving suit upgrades and chatting with ocean animals come later as you heal the ocean and level up your town rank.
