so I used to play coral island with game pass and was wondering if I buy the game through steam then do I have to start over?

Yes, saves are not compatible and can’t be transferred.
Your options are to start a new game which will be easier since you already know some things.
Or you can also start from the beginning with New Game + with the money

You can transfer it as i did, look it up on google. Its not official ofcourse so do at your own risk.

Google also says that the MP is out. Don't always believe what you read; sure you may be able to copy the file over, but there will likely be issues and bugs they won't really be able to help you with because of that
