It has been brought to my attention that there’s sea otters that steal crops in the underwater farms and that we should have scarecrows. Pretty much a parallel to crows on land.
That was news to me!
Playing for over 250 hours on PlayStation 5 (v.1.1b-1237) I have never placed a single scarecrow on my underwater farm and not a single crop ever went missing. I currently have half the available space filled with crops and sprinklers; the other half has barns and algae.
I’m not sure if it’s a bug or if I’m just REALLY LUCKY.

Hiya @brazen axle , thank you for reaching out to us! Since sea otters only appear in the game by chance, it seems that you have an incredible stroke of luck in not having any crops stolen by them 😲
As a precaution, we still recommend that you place scarecrows around your underwater farm to help protect your crops. You'll never know when they can get you

(I mean, I’m currently level S on Summer Y4 and I’ve been planting underwater for a really long while. Maybe I should pick some numbers for the lottery?)

To make sure everything’s working as intended, we recommend keeping your game fully up to date — the latest version on PS5 is v1.1b-1237 
If you’re experiencing something specific, feel free to let us know and we’ll be happy to check if it’s a bug or not. You can also try restarting or reinstalling the game, as that can sometimes help clear up temporary issues 😉
