Does auto-harvesting reduce quality?

When using machines to automatically harvest crops or animal products, does the quality decrease because the character’s skill effects are not applied, compared to manual harvesting?
If so, does that mean that automated machines like auto-harvesters do not benefit from any skill effects?

Auto harvesters of every kind do not take your skills into account, do not use any enchantments you might have, and do not give you XP.
